I agree, claven2's bolt lapping pictorial is an excellent reference for the do it yerselfers amongst us..... I vote to sticky that one too...... perhaps a bump is in order
I do offer the service of lapping in these types of bolts but unless a guy is getting a bunch of work done , it's cost prohibitive to ship it here and back plus the cost of lapping which by itself if about 65.00 or 40.00 booked in a package. The other thing is my bench is basically closed for any new rifle work.

here's some tools routinely used in the bolt lapping process. xtra fine aluminumbased valve grinding/lapping paste, found at princess auto, canadian tire, auto parts stores.
brownells carries the CLYMER .308 Go (1.630") headspace guage.
brownells also carries a M1a bolt lapping tool for those prelapping a new bolt into a receiver prior to threading on a new barrel. this tool is not used when lapping a bolt to a barrelled action.
