How do you empty the cartridges from hinged floor plate magazine

Dad's old Schultz, I lift the bolt slightly, then with my left hand grasp the rifle and roll it over a wee bit.
Hit the release button and let the rounds fall into my fingers.
Pocket these and then open the bolt easily and let that round fall into my hand through the mag well.
Really not that difficult unless yewzs garts feet fer hands.

I just lever the cartridge from the tube mag onto the elevator and then roll the carbine to the right to get cartridge out. You don't have to chamber the ammo and therefore don't need the safety (o-ringed on my 1895 GS).
 
Depends how cold it is and whether I have mitts on or not. Sometimes drop them out the bottom and sometimes cycle them out.

That's the expensive way to do it.

I've never found it particularly arduous to cycle 4-6 rounds through a bolt rifle to unload it. Especially with CRF...no need to chamber the round at all, just let it pop out of the action and eject. Another reason CRF is better.
 
Before you leave your treestand, drop the floorplate and jack out the one in the chamber... climb to the ground and crawl around in your hands and knees until you find all the shells... it is best to wear rubber pants to cut down on the human scent left behind... don't forget a flashlight and sandwich if it is an evening stand...
 
Please keep in mind we have always said on this sight that "there is no such thing as a dumb question". So this is how I unload my M-70 with the hinged floor plate.

Point gun is safe direction.

Hold gun horizontal at waist height and open bolt about 1" so you can see the chambered cartridge.

Roll gun upside down and release floor plate catch, lift floor plate and place hand over the cartridges.

Roll gun right side up while maintaining hand over cartridges, cartridges will now be in your hand, remove hand and cartridges and put in pocket counting you have the correct number while doing so.

Close floor plate, bring bolt slowly all the way open catching the partially chambered cartridge with the other hand. Put that one in pocket.

Visually check there are no cartridges in chamber or magazine. Confirm you have the appropriate number of cartridges in pocket and none are on the ground.

what vintage Model 70? if it's a control round feed this method may damage the claw extractor
 
If you're clumsy with your hands, just open your truck door, hold the rifle over the drivers seat, and dump the rounds out onto the seat. Simple! Of course, make sure no one is in the truck until you're done, just to be safe.

X3. The 1st Zastava I purchased was a M70 with FS model in "366 Wagner" and was pleased enough with it, I've recently purchased a 2nd in 7x57mm. A bit of a side issue but an aspect of the Zastava I really do like is their floorplate release system. It's a cross bolt like arrangement, located appropriately, at the front end of the trigger guard. Great idea in my estimation.
