When you are transporting your ATV or UTV from home to hunt camp do you use a trailer or the bed of a pickup truck? What made you choose this method?

I don't have one myself, but I prefer moving work ATVs on a trailer. Yes, they can get dirty on the trailer, but I like filling the back of my pickup with gear rather than stuffing it around/under an ATV in my truck bed. Busted my moose-chopping chainsaw one time by having it in the bed with the quad where it, naturally, ended up sliding under the bike and getting crushed. So make mine a trailer, thanks very much.

For my ATV I usually just load it in the back of my truck. I prefer no trailer and it just stays there for days at a time during the season. Just invest in a QUALITY trifold ramp and strap it to the truck when loading, no shortcuts (ask me why;)). For my Rhino I have a trailer with a rear drive on lift gate. Its just too big to load comfortly in the truck.

The trailer is the easier and safer choice to load and unload but takes longer to strap and tie down and is one more thing to hook up and drag around.

i drive it on the street. lol.. but it will fit into the back of a truck.

(it's a mini truck , atv tires and rims bolt right on., 660cc 4x4 street legal.

If me and the wife are going, one in the truck, one in the trailer. Awesome for unloading/loading... Just run the ramps from the trailer up to the truck, and drive off... No unhooking the trailer!

If it's just me, I'll go both ways :D Usually a bit easier to get it from the trailer, less steep then running it out off ramps from the box of my truck which sits high due to a body lift.

dont have a trailer, but do have a truck.

have access to a trailer if I need one.

I have the truxedo cover on my truck box. I love this thing. you can keep all your gear clean and pull a trailer with the quad and quad trailer behind you to the hunting spot. you can roll it up and put a quad in the box too.

i have a big ice hut (clam yukon tc) and a grizzly 700. both wouldnt fit in a pickup so i didn't have a choice about getting a trailer. so i have an MTI 6x10 enclosed with leaf springs. would like to rig up some ramps that are hinged and flip down. anyone been down that road?

i used rubber membrane on the floor to make it way easier to clean and it also protects the wood from pressure washing every weekend. plus it just looks better. ;)

heavy duty D rings with steel reinforcement under each one and a 7,500lb winch holds her in place with the help of 4 chocks. i leave it in neutral while in transportation as its not good on them to be jerked around while in park. even after a hard swerve to avoid a sleeping/high idiot on the 403 the atv didnt move half an inch.

6ft wide isnt enough room with the over fenders on the atv as they add 3" on each side. 8ft for me next time.

excuse the mess...during the summer i was using it as tool storage while siding.

I have been looking for a trailer for my Jeep to pull. I have been looking at a small trailer that I can then pull behind the ATV. What solutions have you guys come up with for hauling gear to the hunting area, then using the trailer to haul stuff into the camp or the moose/deer/elk/cariboo etc out once it is shot?

Nice rig! What are you using to pull that trailer? How much weight are you placing in the trailer? And what is the weight of that trailer? Looks like a great setup and a temporary hunting camp all in one!

a 2000 dakota 3.9 5 speed :redface::D i plan on upgrading to a 1/2 ton in the near future.

the ownership says that the trailer weighs 522 kgs and it tows like a dream with my 600lb ATV and 100lbs of gear. the only thing that ticks me off is they didnt use stainless screws on the exterior and some are starting to rust. in order to prevent rust from staining the silver paint i now have the lovely chore of replacing a few hundred screws:rolleyes:

triton makes all aluminum trailers that are basically top of the line. but, they arent any lighter than steel trailers so i guess the only advantage is no rust.
