How do you store your handguns in your safe?

I tend not to worry about plastic rods being put down barrels that can handle pieces of lead going through them at 3000fps.

I use handgun hangers and I very much like them.



What is it about them you don't like? They have a pretty robust but pliable plastic coating on the exterior. I don't think they could harm the inside of the barrel, though I'm no metallurgist. When I first put one into my Model 17 I was a bit apprehensive as the fit looked so tight, but after doing it many times, when I clean the barrel I never find plastic scraping in there and the barrels still look excellent.

Pretty much just like yourself, somewhat apprehensive about it.

If metal hangers are coated with plastic, you might wanna inspect them periodically to ensure that plastic did not wear off.



On unrelated note, shooting shotgun does leave plastic residue inside the barrel.
However, it can be cleaned.
