How does a CZ858 compare to an AK47?

:)
If AK not as good as VZ why would almost half of the world use it (AK) ? :)
AK was my service rifle in army (Russia), I loved it for its reliability and "always ready" state. We did not have VZ (CZ) in Russia.

VZ (CZ) is cool rifle, I own one and I like it. It is not easy to compare them (AK vs VZ (CZ)) since they are totally different rifles (for me). They shoot and they feel differently.
I would prefer to have both of them. Even more, I would prefer to have AK-47 (original Kalashnikov), AKSU-74 and CZ-58

just my five cents ...

The bottom line is that irrespective of which one is better we're all buying CZ858/VZ58s because that's the closest we can come to having an AK-47 type gun.

Even though the CZ/VZ may be marginally better than the AK there are probably 50x more AKs in the world; maybe because it is simpler and cheaper to produce, use and maintain. And it's more famous.

Kind of like, if given the choice between dating Paris Hilton or a prettier look-alike most of us will go with Paris Hilton. :)

Dating Paris Hilton? Who would want to do that? She's so dirty I can still see the those sesame seeds in her teeth from that Burger King commercial she did a while back.

That's the point. She's not that great but people will go with her because she's famous, and also dumb and dirty, and will perform great all day (and night). Kind of like the AK-47. :D

That's not a bad analogy actually... But is it extensible?

AK is to Paris Hilton as VZ is to Nicky Hilton.

They look pretty much the same but one is fast, dirty and cheap and the other is tight, clean and expensive.

Looks like it might be.

The reason most people here are saying that CZ is a better rifle overall is because they own one, and cant own an AK.

CZ is a decent rifle compared to a lot of things, but next to a high quality AK (Valmet.. Galil.. etc) its a piece of JUNK.

AK's have a reputation for having poor accuracy. This reputation comes from people shooting 50 year old beat up, rusted to #### AK's manufactured in Africa from salvaged tractor parts. New, high quality AK will shoot more accurately than a new CZ 10 times out of 10. Dont believe me? If you're in GTA, i will take a "Pepsi Challange" , my Valmet against your CZ anytime. Dont forget to bring some money to bet.

So to answer the original question,
1) Accuracy - AK
2) Reliability - AK (never heard of an AK malfunction that was not caused by bad ammo or complete lack of maintenance.. for 50 years)
3) Maintenance - AK (requires less of it, and is easier to do when needed)
4) Scope mounting - Tie. Both can accomodate a scope.

Perhaps you yourself are biased as you own an AK varient perhaps ? Maybe to settle your conscience for your expensive toy?

The answer is Yes. Full auto. 47m and 74 flavours. Sorry, never tried Norinco.
Unfortunately the CZ858 I have now is semi... not a fair comparison even gremlins aside.

Next time let's also compare Vulcan and AK-630
Any takers?

do they mount the ak-630 in an airframe? better then to compare to the gau-8a
