as i recall, the model 7 is enestially a shorter version of the 700 (shorter rear bridge, and ejection port), for the WSM cartridges. how ever the 700 is a bit better if you want to shoot heavier bullets seated a bit longer. but other then that they are identical as far as design / bolt lock up/ ejection/feeding etc. unless your trying to save every ounce on a WSM mountain type rifle build there is no reason to pick a 7 over 700
yes i would choose the 700 over the 7 any day, the after market is much bigger (stocks, rails ) the 300B.O is fairly short as its a necked up .223 and while it would work in the 7, if down the road you ever wanted to rebarrel to somthing else you have limited your self off the bat. and the re-sale market is also slimmer
