I had a yugo m59 & it would throw brass so violently if it was spinning it would have a ballistic trajectory. I have a norinco on the way & am wondering if I should expect the same result?:runaway:

At my range there is a metal shelter you shoot under so I dont know how far horizontally my SKS will throw casings, but when im shooting they fly up about 5-6 feet and ting off the metal roof before falling back to earth. I love it!

i sat 4 feet to the right of my son who was shooting a norinco sks, never once got hit, most went 6-8 feet in front of my bench, except once every 10-20 round , one would fly straight up and hit the ceiling.... IN COMING!!!!!

Yah the folks on either side of me are often ok it is the ones next to them that get the raining brass/steel cases, and every so often a few will tumble down from the fluorescent light fixtures above us. :D

If you want to see a real brass thrower try a Swedish AG42B Ljungman. :D

as most were saying, mine also ejects almost straight up a couple meters - this was with czech surplus. I did some handloads up and they all ejected to the right and a bit forward.

Brass mangler!

Or his offsprings (the Hakim)
If you reload, you better put a good chunk of polyfoam on the brass deflector!
At least, you can fine-tune the ejection (on the Hakim) by adjusting the gas valve, but it will dent your brass any chance it gets.
PP.

It's like pain in my @ss to keep all my reloading brass while shooting SKS semi auto. So I had to take gas piston out every time I shoot it.

Mine throws cases 20 feet or more, usually straight up and to the right a bit. I've often wondered if it's possible to damp the gas system down somehow, but there's no gas valve on Chinese SKS's and I don't wanna start drilling holes in my gas tube. It's just so rough on brass, the cases are almost not suitable for reloading after my SKS is done with 'em

It wouldn't be that hard to put a vale in the gas port, I wonder if you could strike the balance between positive ejection & not beating the brass to hell.

Yah know I'm working on a brass catcher for one of them. :D
I'll keep you folks posted.
