How good/bad is the AR7?

^^^ LOL. the one good thing about old threads that keep getting posts is that when people are searching they get lots of info. i had a AR7, loved the stock/feel. hated the way it shot.

Agreed, strictly one level above throwing rocks, but it was never designed to be anything like a quality .22 that you would shoot for years, it's a stowawy gun that's it. Buy a 1022 or something else for a 1st gun, I missed the thread was a year old.

When doing a road trip thru the mountains I always throw it in a bag with some ammo in my truck.

I bought a second hand Henry and I've never had any issues. OEM mags have had no hiccups and I've had no failures with any ammo I've thrown through it. I wouldn't recommend it as a first rifle but it's definitely a fun plinker. It's a nice fit in the case with 2-3 other 22's in my double rifle case

The AR7 was designed as a pack gun or survival gun. The new ones are so sh1tty, getting them to work takes so much time that you are so busy, you don't realize how long you've been lost...

im concerned about this thread and more so about the AR7.
i had plans to pick one up this winter to put into my boat because i do a lot of river boating in the remote north and thought it would be nice to have one tucked away just in case.

but now im concerned.....

im still gonna pick one up, im just concerned is all.
