I see what you mean, Separated fact from friction.
Wonder what kind of weather when that Ken guy got the 3" group?

They "routinely" get 3" groups at distances in excess of 1000 yards....somebody claiming to get a 3" group on occasion at those distances would be quasi believable...

That is incredible! I have wondered about water cooling ala "Vickers"....

Impressive, but if it had been a Stevens action...............

Can you even tell what action is on that thing????

He should have just gone with a thumbhole stocked Rem :D:runaway:

Jerry

PS won a few rubles and some plastic at local 1000m funshoots with my Stevens so don't knock them till you try them.

Ross, I think you will have to get used to "routine" claims on this board that defy reality. Just the nature of the internet these days, where outlandish claims are challenged with even more outlandish claims.

In regards to the thread which spawned this one, specifically the "build off" comment, I'd like to say this.......A build off for what? At no time has PGW made any outrageous claims of astonishing accuracy. Sure we have some customers that are posting some nice stuff on the forums, and I'm proud to have such honourable shooters using our product and displaying their pride in what they have acheived. I don't have to defend anything. The fact that our products are carried by men in uniform, under a flag or a badge is testament to the true fact of the level of performance and respect that the PGW rifles have. I don't have to dispute that, nor do I have to defend that, it is a fact. Our rifles get the job done with factory ammo.....If I was to estimate, I'd say fewer than 5% of our rifles see handloads. Of those 5%, I'd say 100% of those shooters are very happy with the performance of their rifle.
I've shot some small groups at long range with my rifles, I've even won a few competitions with them. I have not won every competition, nor has every group been tiny. Now this one time at band camp..........I was on a range down in Yuma Arizona sitting behind a spotting scope, this Ross guy was laying behind a Timberwolf and there were members of the various US SF units all over the place with their own scopes.....the distance was 1000m the wind was 20-25 mph from 8 o'clock IIRC, Ross put on a coarse value on the scope and started to fire. I called out wind corrections of hold left, hold right and when the 5 shot group was done, they called out the group size as recorded by the accoustic target system...."9mm vertical.....125mm horizonal spread".......If ever there was a time to luck into one of those magical small groups this was it. The cool thing was, 4 of the 5 shots landed in the neck of the man silhouette he was shooting at!! We packed up and drove back to Canada high fiving all the way!!!

That is a rail gun. Differerent piece of machinery than a rifle shot off bags.

Once it is adjusted to hit paper, the 10 shot string would be shot in less than a minute. probably less than 30 seconds. Wind is less of an issue when shot that fast.

Like I said, Fact not fiction, thank you for the INFO, very good stuff.

I've got a decent target rifle, but I'm not confident that I could shoot into a foot on demand at 1000. Although I have done better on many occasions, I have also done worse. To say you can reproduce extrodinary performance with . . . (insert brand name here) on demand, in all conditions and circumstances is to destroy one's credability amongst knowledgable marksmen.

That would be my comment :D

Well, the debate wasn't who has the most pride in thier product being used by the CF or who made the smallest 1000yd fluke group (altho "9mm vertical.....125mm horizonal spread" @ 1km is insane, lucky or not!)...

The buildoff is to see who can do what Mr. RSP described in the thread subject title better. Epic bragging rights to the winner!

Nothing like competition to bring out the best - beats an online pissing match, IMHO.

The PGW rifles have every attribute of a full-on custom rifle. They use the best barrels in the world, a superlative stock and a very stout action. They are manufactured by a company known for excellence.

I would think that one of these rifles in the hands of a competent shooter could and should win. I'd be nervous shooting against a good shooter using a a Coyote in FTR. In fact I have thought it would be really cool to outfit Canada's FTR team to the world F-Class Championships with Coyotes, as it is a Canadian product.

I have absolutely no trouble believing a PGW rifle has the potential to be as accurate as the best of any other rifle in that caliber. It has everything in one package.
