How hard can you push 30-06 in new rifles?

Just wondering if there's anyone pushing the old 30-06 in new high end rifles. I see Lapua makes 30-06 brass. So I'm curious about how much this cartridge is really able to do VS what load data books are showing as I'm not trusting those #'s at all. Couldn't find much so far online as most only seem to be doing them in .308 or 300Win-mag to push harder, while the 30-06 seemed to get dropped long ago for matches eh?

So how fast could a solid rifle push the 185's and still get some decent brass life?

thanks

Open any new reloading manual to the 30-06 cartridge and the weight of bullet you want to shoot. Look at the top velocity loads. Very simple. ANYTHING HOTTER THAN THIS IS NOT SAFE!

The velocities listed in the few manuals I looked into so far seem a fair bit slower than what most people actually report getting from the listed loads. Hence, if you put it into a good rig with a 30" barrel, I'm interested to see roughly were that gets it today.
Getting up to that safely obviously applies. Just doesn't seem like there's been any interest in this cartridge for a very long time, so much of the data is hunting related.
I might have to put it on the future projects list.

You might want to look at german salazar work and his journal: the rifleman's journal. The guy loves the 30-06 more than anything else and he has about 10 very specialized articles on shooting this caliber in highpower matches, reloading for competition, bullet choice, etc

These articles are a really good read. Lots of info on 308 vs 30-06, the history of the 30-06 and how/why it was phased out of match shooting ect. Really good stuff from a guy that has put in a lot of range time with that cartridge.

How about from a powder manufacturer website? Six pressure-tested loads ranging from 2740 to 2840 fps. :)
