How heavy is your rifle hunt ready?

My main bolt action hunting rifle is a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless 30/06 with a Burris 3x9x40.. I would say that loaded its around 7 1/2 lbs total. With my scope on it, unloaded, this rifle is less then a empty 30/30 lever rifle.

kicks like a mule though.

A full grown male adult should not have any problems with a rifle up to ten punds, unless they listen to their buddies down at the ### bar.

I put on about 15 km Saturday with my Tikka t3 lite in 6.5x55. It's got Leupold mounts/rings and a B&L 2-7 x 32mm.. It's under 7 pounds ready to go.

Got a 2 point muley that dressed out at 90 lbs hanging.. Hardest work I have ever done for a deer.

They run from 7 to 17 pounds. 10 pounds and up requires a damn good reason, either that its a special long range rig or a cannon. A general purpose hunting rifle feels pretty good at 8-8.5 pounds.

My Shiloh Sharps ( 13.5 lbs. ) usually gets packed around for a couple days every year and in doing so makes me really appreciate all the other much lighter toys. :)

Spare me crusher.

If you think that luggin' a 10lb rifle makes you a man, well just imagine how manly you'd be dragging a club.

Well for small game it goes as light as a 4lbs rimfire. For large game as heavy as 9lbs (scoped M14).

The handling and shooting characteristics of the rifle are more important than it's weight. In Africa I carried a double rifle that weighed over a dozen pounds, but it wasn't a chore to carry, and I'm no fan of the heat. My ZG-47 carries like a slim reed, and my Brno 602 isn't heavy enough to be any bother at all. Yet my custom M-7 .243 with it's medium weight varmint barrel and large scope seems to balance poorly and its a pain to carry. A military rifle that was designed for general issue to troops can be expected to weigh a bit more than a sporting rifle, but it should not be unmanageable, especially if you carry it slung.

I used AIA M10 Sporter last year, whole set up about 12lbs. It was way to heavy.
This season I have Ruger Ultralight, with the scope it is less then 7lbs

My rifle with scope and three rounds loaded is around 8 lbs.

The back pack with bino, range finder, GPS, water, flash light... is another 12 lb+.

It all depends how you hunt (tracking or sitting in a stand), how far you have to walk to the hunt ground and what shape you are in.

Keep in mind that light equipment is easy to carry during the hunt but hard on your shoulder at the range. You have to know your requirements and find the right balance.
