So there some mixed reports. We own a section of land. 200 acres of which is pasture with bush. the remainder is pretty much equal hay grounds and oats. This year I have only caught 2 does and their calves on my cameras. Last year, after rifle closed, I was catching 6-8 does on one camera. I can't say with 100% certainty that this year's population is down, but it doesn't look THAT great. At least in my area.
I completely understand the logic and thinking that is shared by some; that if metis and indians can hunt year round with out tags, why should I be punished by a 1 deer limit? And just say the hell with it and disregard the conservation laws. But I am of the thinking that if no one else will make a difference, maybe I can. That's just the way I think I guess. I have never needed meat that bad that I would starve if I didn't shoot a deer, in fact, I've only been hunting for a few years and have yet to fill a tag lol.
So to quit rambling, I will sum it up like so. If rules are set, they should apply to everyone regardless of who you are or where you come from.
