How is the quality on the Norinco YL-1JZ 'M-37 Tactical'

Hell, at the price of a used Ithaca, why not pick one of them up and go from the EE forum? They're only running between $175 and $300 (and $300 should get you a damn fine specimen). Cut the barrel down yourself and voila. No side folder, but it's a pretty rinky-dink looking stock anyhow.

Actually ,the folding stock is the strongest one I have ever seen, it is built like a tank. You are also forgetting the aperature sights that would cost well over $250.00 can to replace, as well as the heat shield ...

Iwould be willing to bet I can break the wood stocks on my two Ithica 37's (16 and 20 guage) much easier than the steel and polymer stock on my Norinco.

BigUglyMan, are you and your co workers getting all loosened up, so you can come and confiscate our handguns?

Pics of folded stock norc?

Hey Buckbrush,

Would it be possible for you to post a pic with the stock folded? I'm seriously thinking of getting one.

Also, were you able to find a side-saddle for it?

I've been doing my stretches and knee bends so that I don't hurt myself carrying all those heavy boxes out to the truck...so I can move my ass to Alaska. They can take a handgun ban and cram it squarely. I'm pretty sure that the last time a handgun killed anyone in the NWT/Nunuavut/Yukon it was a Mountie pulling the trigger (Whitehorse 1998 when Harley Timmers shuffled off the mortal coil). That's a land mass bigger than the Indian sub-continent. The knob Lieberals need a better way to suck up to the people in TO. Maybe they could give some more money to social programs for inner city youth or have a few more meetings with community leaders...or throw the bad guys asses in jail rather than given them some probation or equally slack-assed term. Perhaps if we weren't so liberal about doling out citizenship papers we wouldn't have so much difficulty in deporting the Jamaican Posse jackasses that are causing the problems in TO.

Ranot off. Let's talk about the Ithaca M37 and it's Chinese clones. No sense getting the thread locked now is there?;)

One of our fellow CGN'ers (Twisted) took rather nice pics of his Norinco YL-1JZ for the Photo Gallery:

With these kinds of pictures it makes you want to buy one. Marstar should spend a few more dollars and put these kinds of pics up on their site. They probably would run out of stock in no time for certain items.

Amen! BIGUGLYMAN :)

I was also thinking of getting the Norinco instead of wasting a bunch of money trying to mod. my 28in. Win. 1300. Plus I want to give John at Marstar some buisiness since he decided to take civil action against a bunch of ignorant antis.

B.u.m., Your view's seem to echo the views of every mountie I have ever talked to. I think common sense must be a pre-requisite for joining the force. I just wish our politicians had some common sense.

Remember, this thing looks like it shoulg be relativly light, but it isn't. I would guess it is 9 lb's loaded. It is really comfortable to shoot, but might be a little heavy to pack when your fishing on foot. It is really built. I have found it a good idea on the 3 I have played with to locktite the sight attaching screws to the barrel, it saves tightening them up ever 100 rds or so. I also have had to do this on my 45-70 marlins.

That just screams "cheap chinese piece of ####" to me.......:)
I mean, good shotguns are not expensive.....7shot 870 is like $350, if you like GR irons the Mossy 590 is $450 and is 9 shot.

This shotgun is a POS. I have had one for about a year now. It sometimes takes 2 or 3 pumps to pick up a shell and when it does half the time it jams. I thought I was short stroking it at first, but I let BBB run some shells through it and he had the same results. I never sent it back because everyone I talked to was having the same problems. For the price it wasn't worth my time. It's now a rusting trunk gun. Good place for it. IMHO, the AK was the only half decent gun Norinco ever made, and it wasn't that great.

Well, I just ordered one from Marstar, so I'll have the chance to find out for my self and keep you posted. If I don't like I, I could probably sell it in the news paper for the same price I paid for it :D

Just an FYI, I know of one of the Norc 19" Ithaca 37 clones available in Ladner if anyone want one. The guy wants $175 for it, I would buy a second one but have enough for now and it is Christmas time... IM me if you or anyone is interested in this, I will give you the fellas #

Careful using that series of Norinco shotguns-they are know to have shell cycling problems. This of course is not a desired characteristic of a 'House' or dangerous game protection tool.
