How is the XCR?

XCR has been a decent performer for me. Get a spare firing pin and recoil buffer, mine went at about 800 rounds of M43 surplus
[7.62x39], although I admittedly have to run steel case ammo at setting three. When running .223 I can drop back down to two which is way easier on the rifle.
Yes they are rather portly,I'm hoping we see a lighter profile barrel come to Canada one day.
There is no comparison between a later model XCR-L trigger and an ACR one.

Thanks guys! I liked that the XCR used the 7.62 for convenience reasons, but if the ACR is a much better rifle I don't mind spending the extra $500 or so.

The biggest thing with your above comparison is going to be the caliber and res vs. non-res rather than the actual rifles.

5.56/.223 is way more accurate than 7.62X39 and will shoot out to 600yds.
XCR = Non-restricted. ACR = Restricted, unless you spend the extra $ for 18.5" aftermarket barrel to make it non-restricted.
.

Have had my xcr in 223 for a few years now. About 2500 rounds through it. Has never let me down yet. I love how customizable it is with ar assesories. Heavy but it is nonrestricted which is the biggest selling point for me. The only draw back is that it is brutally loud! Not a gun you want to shoot with hearing protection. I would think 762 x 39 would be easier on the ears I would highly recommend it.

How is it louder then an ar?

Thanks guys! This is my first time with rifles so I'm not really sure what to look for or what I like. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a place that has them in stock so I can see how it feels.

Misha,
Where in BC are you? I'm unfortunately on a very long business excursion until about April, but if you can wait that long (and save up money lol) I can let you try both rifles at Poco in BC, as long as your ammo is not corrosive. Keep in mind that the ACR I have has several upgrades on it so stock will be significantly less fun to shoot. I also have a Tavor because you honestly might as well try that one too before spending the not insignificant pile of cash on one of these puppies.

I'm on the island, although that could change to the mainland in a couple of months. A Tavor too, nice. That was the third gun I was looking at.

I'm definitely seeing a lot of love for the XCR out there. Does anyone have any criticism to consider? *cough*blaxsun*cough*

ACR or Tavor for me please. I have had 3 XCR's, thinking each time that "it has to be better than the last one(s)" but no such luck. Accuracy was not so bad (but not great either, especially considering the weight of the barrel) but none would come close to touching my AR's for reliability.

Get the Tavor.

I handled a Tavor the other day. They point very nicely and feel extremely light but I really can't see how they would be very comfortable for any prone shooting. I was also very surprised at how thin the barrel is, almost MR1 thin. Lastly, the trigger ... I almost thought the gun was broken until I said "f&$k it", crossed my fingers to hope for the best, and applied 30lbs of trigger pull. The gun then went "click".

Ok man, I'm sending a pm to you now. I don't know what that other guy is talking about "nothing beating ARs for reliability" but the XCR has passed the OTB test so there's something to consider if you need to shoot through mud or in water :D. I have heard some XCR-Ms having teething issues but if you set it up right (Gas setting highest for maybe 200 rounds) I've heard very few complaints. If you're the picky type or Blaxsun, pour some locktite on parts of the rifle you think feel loose. Come try all of them and then decide for yourself what you like.

ps. Tikka has the Tavor trigger about right. It's hard, kind of mushy, and just really gross. I would honestly trade my Tavor for an FS2000 and I'm tempted to get one anyway. However, the front is very controllable due to the lack of weight and ergos are strangely comfortable.

I have shot mine completely caked in mud from hours of dirt biking in the rain with it on my back. Nice thick greasy clay that you had to scrape off your soles once in a while. I've shot it at -36c too. I'm somewhere around 5000 rounds now with zero issues, even went about 4500 between cleanings without a single prob. I only cleaned it because I was going shooting with guys that take care of their gear, I didn't wanna feel like a hick.

You should do a video! :D

Yes, because the XCR is such an awesome battle rifle that it's been fielded by every major military in the world... I'm not trying to knock it (well, maybe just a little... ;) ), but no Tavor or AR...

The old YouTube clip of the guy who didn't assemble his gun correctly before performing his online torture test. Blaxsun I thought you knew that. Not really right of you not to disclose that.
