Yes gone are the days of buying crates of them at $59 ea here. My buddy just bought a Norinco for $200. Usually $325 now days. But not to worry our pain is soothed with the surplus Garand returns at $517.95-$617.95ea. shipped to our doorstep. :p

Why would someone want to produce them here (US)? Even with inflated prices from the Obama scare, they would be priced way out of the market. At least a couple hundred $ more than AK47's in this country and probably more than say a Ruger Ranch rifle in 7.62X39.

What surplus garands? I thought those dried up long ago. (Civilian marksmanship program).
 
The thing most people don't realize, especially the fudds, is that cost can have no reflection on value in the firearms world. If the Russian SKS were $599, people would be claiming it to be a quality firearm. The reason it's $169.00 is because there are so many of them and we're not buying them out of the USA. The cost of manufacturing them is not even part of the equation for the sellers, they just want them gone.

Think about it, is the Ruger mini-30 that much better than an SKS, before you flip out, try to make a solid argument as to what's really better about it. If it is better, are you willing to pay $600.00 more for a gun you probably won't shoot surplus out of?
 
If the LGR dies, it'll make banning guns next to impossible. The SKS is a scary looking rifle because of the bayonet, so it'll probably get banned next time the anti's form a government. They all have it in their party platforms to ban semis, so it's not like i'm just being a fear mongerer.

Same here... i have 3. I can't see that happening as with the 5 shot restriction they are no different than any other 5 shot Semi auto Hunting Rifle.If anything they may make SKS owners remove the Bayonet.
