How long has the FN FS2000 been out of production?

So the MP5 (and every other pistol caliber primary) has been dead for a 2 or 3 decades, can't even get spare parts for them anymore either. About the same for the FAL, G3 and M14. As for the AK, even the Russian SF is running ARs.

The MP5 is still manufactured by HK and they still receive substantial orders for them. Pistol caliber carbines are still used widely throughout the world by police forces.

Let's be specific the russian sf run your much hated hk made piston ar, don't try and go around that inconvenient little detail. And the mp5 has been relevant till the late 90s. SBR ars were hit and miss till late 90s. thats not 3 decades. Is the mp5 still relevant? In the world of 10.5 ars(including your much hated 416) no, they really aren't the best choice for their task anymore, probably gets the job done, but I would take a stubby ar myself if it were up to me. But from the 60s to 90s yes they were. The FAL G3 etc had their time, when the m16 came out that time was done, but they had their time of relevance as well.

It is more like a 2015 model Tacoma not having a gas gauge or park brake, and Toyota making excuses for the lack of a common feature. Can you imagine a semi auto pistol coming to market in the next 12 months and not having a last round hold open?

I'm sure norinco or canik or grand power is hard at work to come out with just such a pistol.

Sit down with members of ERT teams, or members of the military SF community and ask where the MP5 now sits in usefulness. Its biggest limitation is the pistol cartridge it shoots.

Replacement is often the surest sign of obsolescence.

R34 I have never said all HK product is crap, never.

Read my comment, with the advent of the SBR the mp5 is now obsolete, I don't disagree with that statement one bit, pistol cartridges in general suck. That doesn't mean it was obsolete from the start.

Military contracts are never a sign about the quality of a item, far more about the politics of the day.

As i recall Mexico is making them for their army and Peru bought a bunch
