how long to let arca glass gel to set????

I don't really see anything wrong with using the Acraglas gel if one prefers but I do consider it to be an inferior product. It shows signs of degradation under circumstances (solvent exposure/ time) where the Acraglas liquid does not.
It is much easier to use though and therein lies it's appeal. Being easier to use, it allows the gunsmith to produce a fine job more consistently and easily. This may outweigh any shortcomings. That Dennis has used it to his own and his customer's satisfaction for years is certainly solid evidence in it's favour. That I prefer not to use it may be more indicative of my sheer obstinence than anything else!
