How long will Bushnell make me wait for my scope servicing?

Bushnell Canada received my B&L 3000 3x9 scope on June 25. I have been checking their website and it says on hold for inspection.

I called 2 weeks ago and they said wait. I called today, 15 working days after they received it and found out that on Friday they only work till noon!

How long will they keep me waiting? Has anybody gone through this process with them?

i quite buying bushnell because of the months it takes for repair. my last experiance was about five months from when i took it in till it was returned.

What was wrong with it?

It holds it's zero and it shoots MOA with factory 30-06 ammo. The problem comes when I try to adjust the POI. The scope in the past has always been very predictable while adjusting but now it doesn't seem to move in a predictable fashion.

I have tried to centre the adjustment knobs and then shot it at 25 yards, but when I try to adjust the POI it goes every which way varying the POI up to 2-3 feet at 100 yards.

If I do not touch the knobs it stays zeroed and shoots MOA so it's not the rings or me.

Here's my story. I sent 3 scopes for repair on May 25 of this year. They had been sitting around for near a year. All 3 were on rifles that were dropped. The leupold is a 3x9x40, the bushnel is a B+L 6-24 and a Burris 4-12. Both burris and leupold were repaired at no charge (hadn't expected this) and are both home now. The burris went to Colorado and back in 3 weeks. Guess what, the B+L has not been looked at yet. Great service. Is it because their scopes are junk and the shop is full or do they no have anyone working there or wtf?? It's not like I need them in a week but why the difference in turnaround? For the extra few bucks I think I'll go American. Mark

If it was a Leupold you would have it back on your rifle by now easily :)

Be prepaired for a long wait...

Yeah, I'm starting to understand the "Pay the money for a Loopy dummy!" comments I read on CGN. I have a VariX 1.5x5 that I could use for elk hunting this fall but would prefer to keep it on the .375 H&H it is currently on and use it as a backup.

Just a gentle reminder to Bushnell that good service is good for their future sales and their bottom line.

Dear Sir/Madam

My scope (repair # ######XX) that was received by Bushnell Canada on June 25, 2007 is still on hold for inspection. When will it be inspected?

I have posted this Bushnell service experience on the popular website, Canadian Gunnutz. CGN is a very popular firearms website forum that is actively followed by tens of thousands of Canadian sport shooters and hunters. As you can see from the thread (see link below) some of the readers of this forum have negative impressions of the time required to get service done on a Bushnell product as opposed to your competitors such as Leopold or Burris.

I trust that the excellent and timely service that you will provide for me (and which I will document in the previously mentioned thread) will serve to improve the impressions of the faithful members of CGN regarding the service that they can expect to receive on any Bushnell equipment they may purchase in the future.

Hope that works for ya Vern!

Bushnell will never see a cent of my money, ever. If they were the last scope company on earth, I would shoot open sights.

well one thing I would look in this post is The repair is on the "B&L" scope ,not Bushnell . Bushnell did take over B&L ,but did they take over the warrinty? Bushnell also took over tasco and I do not beleive they honer the old tasco warrinty. I have sent 2 scopes back and always received an upgrade in 3 weeks or less , always had great results

Bushnell should service my B&L 3000 in a timely fashion as it was manufactured by them in the 90's under the B&L brand name.

Bushnell merged with or bought out Bausch & Lomb in 1973, and B&L stopped selling riflescopes within a few years. The B&L name was used by Bushnell Sports Optics for their Elite Series 3000 & 4000 rifle scopes through the Nineties, made by Light Optical Works.

You get what you pay for. I would never own a Bushnell. Had a yardage pro rangefinder that worked liked crap, it broke, had to send it in and waited over a year. I got issued a Leica Rangefinder and there was no comparison. Obviously if guys are sending these scopes in for repair in some cases more than one scope what does that tell you. I have had Leupold scopes for years and none had to be sent in, but if they did, they would only have to go to Okotoks. You can't beat their warranty. I was in the Portland area last year and had a tour of the Beaverton plant. Called with no advance notice and the next morning had a tour that took over 3 hours. It was a blast and got a Mark 4 ball cap, t-shirt, patches and numerous catalogs etc. They go out of their way to please their customer, more than you can say for Bushnell.Just my opinion.

It means jack siht bushnel or b+l. They are the authorized repair center for both. On a similar note a few years ago I sent a cheepo banner that came from a rifle I got on trade. I was more than a year later that a new scope arrived. I had forgotten about sending one in for repair. No bill, no paperwork, just a new scope. Just like Christmas. Still no reason for the wait time for customer service. And the gal I talked with didn't seem at all bothered by the long wait. Just normal. Done with them, Mark

Just keep in mind that Bushnell sells many entry level and mid quality scopes besides there higher end Elite series. The majority of Bushnell repairs are to their lower end products, the Elite series have a much better survival rate however the products are serviced in the order they are received and often take 6-8 weeks for warranty (most Bushnell non electronic products have lifetime limited warranty). Leupold on the other hand makes mid-high end to very high end products that do not (nor should not) require much in the way of warranty. Our experience with Leupold Canada (Korth Agencies) is about 10-14 days back in our hands. In fairness Bushnell sell many more units (because of price) than Leupold and they receive many more warranty requests. Phil.

If it's a volume problem whether due to numbers sold or repair numbers the depot should be large enough to handle the volume. Remember, the same number of repairs are done whether it takes a week or a year. This is not a warranty issue but a customer service one. Any company that can't service the products they sell shouldn't be increasing sales till the service dept. gets up to speed. Warranty is a separate deal. Mark

358, Bushnell is large enough to handle the volume, but their product prices dictate slower service to still make a profit. Leupold is a premium brand. Their price point is higher so they can afford to have faster service while still taking a nice profit.

If you want to pay the extra money so you can get your scope back 2 weeks faster, go with a Leupold.

The last scope I sent to bushnell for repairs took them over 6 months to fix, then the retards sent it to the other side of the country (Montreal to be exact) to a store over there. lucky for me they also sent the letter with it that I had sent them explaining the issues as well as my contact info. So then i ended up paying the shipping to get it shipped back to me in B.C. to find out that they forgot to replace the turret covers..... took another 3 months to get them shipped here. By the time it was all said and done I had sold every bushnell product I owned and upgraded to leupold... I guess I should have just spent the $ to start with and then I wouldn't have had all the headach to go with it.
