Gary D and louthepou come to mind. Myself, I'm slowing working on my first restoration, a '44 LB. Can't seem to find any LB wood though. Oh, and Cantom restored a nice old '41 LB.
Well I just recently got my first Enfield (Savage)and it's in pretty good shape!
I did replace the rear sight flip up L with a micro adustable peep and gave it a good cleaning but unfortunately when I was snugging up the screw that secures the front sight blades it sheared off...
So I guess I will be "restoring" that soon!
My first candidate is in the safe right now, all it really needs is a decent stock set, thought I'd found some NEW stuff, but it's in the States and I'm not sure about the import/export situation (I've heard too many versions to know what's right). Any leads????
How much does it cost to restore, generally? I've got a No1 MkIII that has had the front wood cut back, and no nosecap hardware, but is otherwise good to go, and the metal is in darn near mint condition. Anybody have an estimate off the top of their head? I'd love to get it back up to spec!
I would call myself a restorer. I have restored about eight No1 Mk3 and one 1943 Long Branch No4 Mk1*.
I have been restoring Australian Lithgows lately , in my opinion the best quality No1 Mk3s made, but opinions differ.
My next project will be a 1913 Lithgow 3 digit serial number. The hardest part of restoring them is finding the furniture(wood) namely the fore-stock. I have managed to acquire a pile of parts but when you want to restore one with proper manufactures marks it can make a project drag on and increase in value. Thankfully there are people out there willing to trade.
Here is a pic of a few.
Mark me down as one. I have probably restored a dozen of my own and helped out a couple other members with their restorations locally with parts. I still have a couple refurbs as well as a few mint original ones. Most of the ones I have done, people talk me into selling them. GRIN I've seen some nice jobs done by other members and in fact I have one of Lou's N01MkIII's in my collection. VERY nice work done by this man!

Use to work on MLM's, MLE's and SMLE's a few years ago, but got out of Enfields and only play with Garands these days..
I realized that after finding all the parts, cleaning them up and putting them together, that all you really had for all your hard work, was just a nice looking parts gun.
I have restored a wide variety of firearms. Usually have a few projects on the go. One is a Savage No. 4 Mk. I, 1941, serial under 500. The only reason I'm working on this one is because of the very low number.
You can't count me as one yet. I have a 1918 No1 mark III that I am going to start soon. I have started reading up on the project and will start looking for the parts soon. To that end if anyone has the forstock and hardware for starters please PM me. Other wise when I am done reading and compiling my list you will see me in the EE section looking. I am sure looking forward to joining the ranks!!
