been toying with the idea of de-sporterizing my Savage No4.

Just not a fan of the 2-position irons. I want the "ladder" peep sight. And new wood. the buttstock on mine looks a little beaten up, and I hate sanding

Is the metal permanently FUBAR'ed, or is the finish just gone? If the metal is good to go, I'd replace the wood and parkerize that baby.

if it got hot, the metal might have lost its temper. Have a smith check it out IMHO.

Gary D and louthepou come to mind. Myself, I'm slowing working on my first restoration, a '44 LB. Can't seem to find any LB wood though. Oh, and Cantom restored a nice old '41 LB.

Finding LB forends is very difficult...even in the US. Sigh.
