I've got me a good little collection, but every now and again the wifey gives me that look when I'm gettin' set to by a new boom-stick. So I'm am going to pass along my redneck logic so you guys can use it too....I need certain firearms for certain jobs (wife don't know about crossover, bullet design, and reloading).
1 target practice, plinking- one quality bolt action .22
2 varmit, target, -one rifle .223-.260 caliber
3 general hunting- one rifle .270-.30 caliber, one back-up rifle same or similar
(what if your scope gets bumped or a friend shows up?)
4 large game- one rifle .30 mag - what ever is huge and cool, one back-up
5 migratory birds/ turkey- 12 ga , pick your poison what size or action, one
one spare for buddies
6 small game/ upland birds- .410-20 ga. I have a SxS does it for me.
Now you can effectively have atleast 9 rifles. Not to mention a couple of handguns because if you don't buy them now who knows if you'll be allowed to in the years to come. Milsurp is an easy one- it's a part of history how can you not own several.
Hope this logic helps you guys, it atleast gets my wifey to roll her eyes and leave me be....
