how many m305 in canada

hmmmmm....why does tin foil come to mind.....sure sounds like a good question to me....i have two....a fine reliable suitable rough and tumble outdoors rifle.....with a military heritage....just like a 98 mauser....

Welcome aboard INKY don't worry about the odd comments.....i think something of a siege mentality sets in once in a while....but then again who can blame them....

I've got the only remaining one.:p

Seriously, there aren't anywhere near enough. A couple more containers, along with a few million rounds to feed them, would be just wonderful. Think of the children. How are they going to shoot these rifles if there is no ammo?:D

I think Marstar brought in 4 containers.. Bell brought in 2 more.. and their may have been 1 other. IIRC John said it was 2200 in a container.. That says to me there are about 15,000 maybe a few more. Then there are all the non Chinese M14s, M1a's ETC..

So my guess is 20k... What do I win???

Marstar also had to bring in M305's by air for a long while circa 2005-2006 so you are not counting those. Lever also brought in a container in 2002-2003 timeframe.

I'd think the total is more like 8 containers plus whatever Dark International brought in... I'd say at least 20,000 units. Average price probably about $500 as many were sold at the $799 price point out west.

then you have all the people who have spent big money on rebarrels, custo mbuilds, etc. Figure average confiscation/compensation cost at about the $800-900 mark and you get about $18 million dollars - a lot of $ and political good will to burn to get rid of just another semi-auto .308 hunting rifle without a pistol grip (usually).

Can't we just call the CFC and ask them? They should be able to give you a solid #. I mean they've got a fancy computer and all.

Yes... hyper-accurate too (not). I was at the gunsmith the other day and a guy brought in 4 guns for consignment complete with recent registration certs. The CFC had no record of two and one was improperly registered as the wrong model and calibre. 75% error rate in that case - I see this all the time too.

When the registry was up online at the Ottawa Citizen website, guys were finding tire irons and soldering guns registered. Food for thought.

Over 9000!!!

+1 on this and another one for about tree fiddy. Now if we do the math and then extrapolate and calculate all derivatives and plug in all the necessary numbers into the formula:

X(a*e)+3/5y^10

we will get the answer= :runaway:

I call anti-shenanigans on the OP

Hey Inky, are you going to buy one? You really should, because:

a. They're very cool.

b. They're accurate.

c. They work reliably well on the range and in the field. One of the best hunting rifles out there I think.

d. They're made in China, and we need to support our new overlords to the best of our abilities.

....is there going to be a paper published on Norinco somewhere? ;)

Inky from Dauphin? If you are you got some serious explaining to do regarding c-391

Sorry Inky, knee jerk reaction to Inky Mark leaving office at, from my perspective, a very inopportune time.

Welcome to CGN and the Battle riffles forum.

There are still more than enough m14's in this country to create a huge outcry if a political party tried to ban them though.:D
