How many rounds do you go through per range visit?

I always have in excess of 2K of rounds in my car trunk ( various), in case we go on a shooting frenzy... JP.

Per range visit assuming I bring all my guns:

100-200 22lr (my buddy and I have little wagers)
15-30 45acp
100 9mm
40+ x39
20+ x54r
3-5 30-30
50+ 223

100-200 rimfire; 100-150 centerfire.

I'd rather go to the range more often and not shoot so much at once, but doing so isn't an issue for me. I understand the guys that can only get to the range once a month and burn up hundreds of rounds of many calibers per session. I generally take just one or two guns to the range at once. Tomorrow is gonna be .45ACP day for me, and I'll be taking three pistols, and only shooting a couple of them a little [they don't get out much...].

Much past 250 rounds in a single session and I find I'm hitting a fatigue point where further shooting doesn't improve me.

Generally I will train one pistol and/or one rifle. Most frequently I'll take a pistol to the range with 300 rounds and come home with some. Occasionally I'll take a rifle with a similar amount. If I take the rifle, I'll generally also take the pistol for transition drills.

I don't generally take multiple types of pistols. I.e. I might have 2 glocks or 2 sigs or 2 1911s but I won't generally have a glock and a sig. I don't switch guns often - maybe every 2-3 years. And I mainly just go back and forth from glocks to 1911s, which is a very easy transition. Those two guns have been my go-to pistols for probably 95% of my shooting life.

The exception to this is if I have been shooting one pistol a lot, and I want to change something for a couple of drills without shifting my primary focus. Then I might take a glock and a sig, or a glock and a revolver.

Although I find I can go back and forth from glocks to 1911s without hurting my performance much on either. They're pretty similar triggers: short, hard break, positive reset.

All day classes I can do ~4-600 rounds per day, but again, much more and I find I'm just wasting ammo.

I bring at least 5 firearms each session ( Restricteds and NR)but my Les Baer is always from the trip even if i go 3 times in the week, just cant leave home without it... JP.

Do all you guys reload?? Just averaging the round count from all the posts, I'm seeing at least $100/ visit if not reloading. That's in the $4-500 a month range! I shoot maybe 200 rds. assorted a month. The cleaning and the cost is what's holding me back! I HATE cleaning guns! If I shoot one round, I have to clean the gun. My OCD nature!
Judging by the posts and drills done, we should all outshoot regular cops and soldiers! On our own dime!

I reload. I don't shoot as much as I used to because I'm busy. I do outshoot the overwhelming majority of people.

In my experience, an athletic, coordinated person with professional instruction can shoot a thousand rounds a year, dry fire the rest, and smoke 99% of shooters without professional training, who burn ten times the ammo.

Although a) the number of people who shoot 10,000 rounds a year is tiny, and b) internet round counts tend to be wildly inflated, unless the gun is for sale.

So take it for what it's worth.

If it's a hand gun range trip I'll shoot 200-300 centre fire pistol (9mm and/or 45acp). I always bring at least one .22 and usually go through a brick of that as well.

If it's a long gun range trip, I'll go through ~200 rounds distance precision, and maybe 200 rounds 7.62 x 39 plinking with a red rifle.

I don't reload and shoot 100% ball ammo (norinco mostly). I average around 600 rds/day, it's one of the reasons I don't shoot much anymore. $$$$$

usually around 200 rounds of centerfire pistol, and the same for centrefire rifle, and around 250 rounds rimfire. However i only get out once every couple months. If i bring shotgun I'll shoot the same in birdshot, and some buck/slug

300-400 9mm each time, which is usually about once a week.

I don't shoot anything else on a regular basis, but when I used to shoot trap regularly, it was about 100-150 rounds of 12"

reload my 45, will start reloading 223 once this case of norinco runs out. haven't cleaned my 45 or ar-15 since the end of last season except to run a couple of patches through the bore, not needed.

Hahaha! Unless the gun is for sale! Good one!
I did most of my training and practice 20 years ago when I had access to free ammo, reloaded and whatever I had to buy was cheaper then. I consider myself above average in timed fire but there is a LOT of work to do to get to the next level. Work which requires range time, perfect practice, professional observation and advice, $ and lots of ammo in every caliber!! Maybe SIG or HK can sponsor me? I'll wear a logo on my forehead?
And ren666, i know most people don't fuss over their guns. It's just me. Like I said, OCD!!

I never figured out the cost and, i dont reload no more, chinese, Wolf, AE, Federal GMM, Lapua stuff, Blaser, whatever i buy go tru a week's range... JP.
