how many rounds?

All depends. Depends on the gun too, some of my mags hold more than others.

Walking solo, 2 mags, one for the pipe, and 2 of the plastic things that hold 10. So 31.

Posting, 6 mags, the pipe round and the 2 plastic things. Ran out one time, 51 shots got me 9 coyotes. So now at that post I grab an extra box. Any more than 50 isn't really realistic tho, too much barrel heat in the scope, but I like to be reloaded right away.

Gopher hunting depends too. Using the truck or golf cart and 10/22, I load up around 100 25round mags and just keep pulling them out of the bag, and throw the empties in a bin.
On foot I run 2 mags and dump a brick in my pocket and load on the go.

For my single shot shotgun - 1 in the gun, 2 in pocket.
For my win 94 - 2 in the gun, one in pocket.

Ammo is heavy. I have to carry enough stuff as it is.

Sooooooo, it duzz werk then?

Oh gosh no. You'll be looooong dead before the water bombers arrive. But at least the thin layer of retardant foam they spread over your charred corpse will help conceal the horror from anyone who takes a peak inside your closed casket. ;-)

6-12 depending on if i feel i may get lost. 22 i carry a box of 50 in my pocket and have whats left of a brick in the backpack or quad.

How many rounds or arrows do you Carry into the bush while big game hunting?
When I go with a rifle i carry at least 40 rounds of center fire ammo. Sometimes up to 80. Hundreds if after small game with rimfires. But when I use my bow I only carry 3 bolts. Yes I know what it feels like to run out of arrows. A good buddy asked why I carry so much. I do it so I could signal help if needed.
However this year I'll keep extra arrows in the truck

If I am hunting close to home on say a day trip I'll have 1 mag with 3 and maybe 5-10 in my backpack and like 80 or so in the truck. If I'm up north in the middle of nowhere I take the 80 in my back pack or quad. When I'm out muzzleloading not counting the round in the muzzleloader I'll bring no more than 5.

I didn't mean that I use arrows for signaling. Where I can use a center fire rifle I'm spaced out from my hunting partners or alone.
When I use a bow I'm close to others or my truck.

Seems like I carry a lot more than the average

When hunting moose I carry 4 rounds in each pocket of my hunting jacket and bibs. That's 16 rounds on my person and another 20 rounds in a backpack.

For big game 5 to load my rifle with and another 5 in a pocket size 5 round holder. For small game I fill 2 - 10 rd mags for the 10/22 and away I go. BUT for gophers I bring along a brick of 500. I make that my limit with 22 being tough to get here for the most part.

Five in the box magazine and an empty chamber. Five more in the ammo pocket of my vest and the rest of the box (10 rounds) in a waterproof container in my back pack.
