Take it easy Calum. More than just your opinion on this site.

Geoff

Don't take it personal Geoff, history can be a harsh Mistress, especially with Com bloc Milsurps that have been made in a dozen or more countries. :D

The only cure is to get one, and a case of ammo, and head to the range for some fun time. :D

Sks

Yeah maybe try one again, would have to be one of them late-war Russian ones though. Maybe ya can bring one next time you come down to Victoria.
Cheers
Geoff....still in the peanut gallery.

Well according to CGN's own definition, "Milsurp: Old stuff buried in the backyard since WW1 and WW2". SKS's being post-war should really be in "Main battle rifles".
Flame away and have a happy Thanks-Giving brothers...LOL!

Geoff in the peanut-gallery

Well, it was designed during the Great Patriotic War and "Battle Rifles" don't fire intermediate cartridges like the M43. I've seen lots of pics from a little place called Viet Nam where the SKS was used to justify the "milsurp" title as well.

It's such a "special" case, it has it's own sub-forum.;)

That statement from someone saying that Russians were fighting germans on Eastern Front is some sort of insult. Its like American asking for directions in Amsterdam and stranger says "aah, you must be foreigner" and American says "no-no its you - foreigner, I am American". (Just a gentle reminder that that was happening in Amsterdam)

Here is mental exercise. Put yourself in the middle of mother Russia. Then look towards where Germany is supposed to be. Then wait till the sun set. While waiting for the sunset you may think, there was Eastern front in Russia too, where they held their forces ready for Japanese invasion that never happened. Another fact is that Russian armies were grouped into "Fronts" and those fronts were individually named. One of them was called just that "Western Front". Ok, here we go, watch the beautiful sunset now.

Not an insult, just a geographical perspective. :D

I'm sure the Russians just called it the Great Patriotic War.

Just one Chinese, which I purchased with the intent of customizing and shooting thousands of rounds through. Instead it sits in a locked case in pristine condition having only had about 150 rds through it. Despite the fact it sees basically no use, it's still nice to own.

1 norinco fixed mag, 1 norinco detach mag,1 monte carlo detach,1 russian fixed, just love em,i used to buy 1 sks & 1 case of ammo & still get change back from $200.
