So I have ordered up :

5000 rounds .45
5000 rounds 9mm
20,000 .22LR

All stored legally at home to be used over time at the range.

Does this go beyond the definition of a "reasonable" amount of ammunition to be stored at home ?

What is the expiry date on the ammo???

Expiry ? I dunno...I just bought it all from a supplier...Do I have to worry about this if I shoot it all in 2 years ?

There is nothing with those amounts. I buy it like that as well if I get a price break. Every payday I go buy ammo whether I need it or not. If you enjoy shooting, you need to stock up for the amounts you shoot. I doubt very much the price will ever go down.

Around '90 or '91, I bought 4800 rounds of Czech made .308. It was selling for $100 per 1000 or 10 cents each. I now have less than 800 left, and the replacement cost is about a buck a round.

It seems "reasonable" to me that I should have bought a hell of a lot more.
If money wasn't tight here, I would buy a few more crates of cheap x39mm, to add the the several crates I currently have.

Too much is when you have more ammo than you will ever use in accident free lifetime :D
I mean, if you have 1 Million rounds and you are to use only 999K before you hit the bucket. :D

look at it this way, except for 7.62x39(for the time being),ammo prices never go down and i'm sure more than a few people buy it cheap, stack it deep then sell it for a tidy profit...

Ammo

As far as expiry dates go, I've shot some WWII ammo a few years ago and it went BANG just like it's supposed to. As long as you store it dry and somewhat cool.

I would have thought someone that had gone through the trouble of getting an RPAL would not need to ask those kinda questions. :D;):p:D

If you shoot lots then you shoot lots. Don't be ashamed be proud.

The expiry date is usually laser ingraved on the rim of each round. You probably need a magnifying glass to read it. If there is no expiry date, they have already expired and you should then immediately give it all to me for safe disposal!
