How much interest for Canadian made Norinco threaded muzzle brakes?

So I've been sitting here twiddling my thumbs for the past month and a half on pogey wondering what to do with myself....I've been machining for almost 4 years now (got layed off 200 hours short of my journeyman ticket) and have been tossing around the idea of starting up on my own. But what to build? I dunno....haven't seen hardly any options for the metric brakes. So is anyone interested? Could be nitride finish 4140, or left unfinished stainless...really, at the end of the day, the customer dictates the product.
Here was a prototype I whipped up in class one day while I was at SAIT a few months back. Recoil *feels* about half. Muzzle rise was pretty much non-existent. Again, I did not perform any scientific tests, there is no data at this point. Like I said, just testing the waters here.

I actually had a project like this on the go but lost access to a shop just before I was able to build it. Basically converting a stock flash hider by chopping the end off and silver soldering a 5/8 plug into it. Rigid, simple, and could be done for about 30-40 bucks. Unfortunately I never got a chance to try it out :(
 
I like the idea of a direct connect brake. What would the cost be of something like the one pictured but with 3 gills and 3 top holes?
Can you do standard thread also? I'd like a better brake on my LRB barrel.

One question tho, how would they index?
 
And maybe something a little slimmer, low profile? But that's just me. I hate the looks of big obnoxious brakes.
 
Jam nut could be tricky because of how little thread there is to work with.
As far as lower profile, material could be milled off the top and bottom. Smaller diameter....etc. When I built this one, my focus was to make it as short as possible, while at the same time all but eliminating muzzle rise (if possible), and having as much surface area for the gases to bear against as possible. Which is why the diameter was a bit bigger.

Agreed, slimmer with 3 gills and top holes, but a jam nut would have to be very thin to work.

How much thread do you have to work with? 1/4" or so?
As long as you can get 2 threads to bite a jam nut could work, but like u said, tricky.
 
Also depends on the type of shooting....brakes with compensators are generally not as accurate as something that balances any applied stress on the barrel with truly equal and opposite force.

Soooooo, the majority consensus is to see something along the lines of this? Could be trimmed and lightened a bit still probably. As far as indexing, it shouldn't be too hard to utilize set screws in the slots on the barrel. Would probably be cleaner too. I kinda sorta cheated on mine....took .005" off the end so it torqued in the right spot and then slathered it in high heat locktite.

Wow guys I just want to say, I really appreciate the amount of interest/support shown. Between responses and personal messages....just, yeah. I'm in negotiations with a guy up in Edmonton for a little CNC mill (could do it all manually but its just not practical at this point.) I'll definitely keep you guys updated. If this does fire up in the fall, I will likely only be focusing on 2 or 3 styles to start as it will be just me. Based on the feedback, likely a slimmer 3 port with or without compensation ports, a shorter bigger two port as shown, as well as possibly a DA style flash hider.

WHAT SAY YEE!?

Yes exactly!

What about a clamp on in conjunction with being threaded?
 
I am personally looking for a FH that will fit the factory threads of the nork 305bbl, and or the American bbl aswell. I think this would be a very very good seller. something maybe like the dlask one, or a break that's quiet? somethin I can use in the bush for hunting without muffs put me on your list ill b glad to purchase one once you get going
