How much interest in a Canadian limited edition Ruger No.1?

I have 3 #1's converted to 338/378 weatherby. The action is plenty strong enough to stoke up the reloads, the limit here is the brass itself. The 303 was/is notorious for case head separation on extraction. As you alluded to this was basicly due to excess stretching/ expansion in the area in front of the rim..caused by headspacing. With a proper fitting chamber and the ruger breach block this should not be an issue.

Like I said before..get a basic model and customize it to your own tastes..get it rechambered to the .303 improved or some such for even more snort.

Personaly I intend to keep mine shooting the bone stock 303BR round..thats one of the attractions in the first place is the chambering, nostalia, and ammo availability, as well as ease of shooting vis a' vie recoil etc. If I want more snort, I will use one of my other numerous rifles. (#1's or otherwise)

And Clay, speaking for myself..you won't have to return my depost!! Just transfer as a down payment on the next rifle I buy from you if this deal falls through.

Trust me, there will be more...many more!

PS. If capping this at a specific number is going to expedite it then I suggest Clay just announces a 'closing date' for orders / commitments as long as he has met whatever minimums Ruger requires. ITs called.."YOU SNOOZE - YOU LOSE!!! Maybe this will get the fence sitters to jump??

We are nearing 90. So, next week, it might be deposit time. Its happenned so quick and I'd like more answers from Ruger before I take in $$$ as its expensive for me to take it in and give it back if we can't make this happen.

Remember... An explosion is always better than an implosion:p I never thought it could take off this fast... And as long as interest stays strong and disinterest is stayed, This could be a like raising the Bismark.... Err... Bad analogy?:D:p
 
This is a superb project, cudos to the brainchild! I'll be watching this thread closely!

I think .303 Brit is the right catridge for this one, but I've bought and sold more Lee Enfields than I care to remember because I couldn't get past the recoil from standard factory ammo (but that could just be the bad ergonomics of 100+ year old Lee Enfield design?)

So I'm on the fence until the final model is decided because I'm reluctant to go for a 7 lb gun with a 20" or 22" bbl (22" is my bare minimum). That said, I'm not a fan of the RSI or light sporter. But if the standard 1-B with a 26" bbl and an 8 lb + weight is the final winner, I'm in for sure.:D But until then, I'm a wallflower...:redface:
 
I like the full stock or the varminter BUT

whatever I just need to know which one is the final choice, what options can we get without making it too difficult for clay and then the choice can be made

I'm sorry to see the RSI not to the majorities taste. Still want to see what the final configuration might be before committing.
 
It's a great idea but no way in 303 Brit.:eek: That's about as Canadian as MacDonalds, the 303 is popular but Canadian! I don't think so. I vote for the 280 Ross:D or something else that is home brewed.

One of the email backlogged msgs at Prophet River is mine. Thought I would register my preference here for comment.
1) Take advantage of classic (Fraser, Gibbs Farquarson) bloodlines. Not a commemorative with superfluous adornment
2) Walnut, blued with/without case colour receiver(they have done this on revolvers)
3) 25-26" barrel with swivel band, and iron sights (express if possible)
To be desirable as a collectors' item it should have some distinguishing feature besides calibre, hence the barrel length and case colour receiver.

That said, I will provide deposit for one on request.

Hahaha....I knew someone would pick up on that......Lets take it one step at a time.....we can dream can't we.:D
I suppose Hornady can be nudged into doing it afterall they are jumping in bed with Ruger with all kinds of weird new calibers, imagine how many of those old 280 Ross's can be brought back to life! Remember Winchester did it with their 405, it came back from the dead also, now there is ammo for it.

Ok, we are north of 100, however, I will not take deposits until I hear we've got the go ahead directly from Ruger. I was hoping we might have word from them before we reached the 100 so we could get this going. Lipseys 'special run' rep says its doable but we really need to hear that from Ruger before we get our hopes up too much.
