How much interest in a Canadian limited edition Ruger No.1?

I'd be more inclined to own one if it were chambered in the .300 Canadian. I once came across some brass that even had the proper headstamp. I'm just saying.....

I contacted Nosler one time a few years back. I was curious if they would consider building a Partition in .303 since there were a few million of the rifles in circulation around the world. The fellows response? Laughter and ignorant comments. They were ok with .375 Ballistic Tips, but not a .303 Partition.

I think if a rifle like the Ruger #1 Light Sporter were chambered in .303 British, and a good bullet were offered new life would be breathed into it's heritage. Their building the #1 LS in .300 H&H, so.....

Barnes makes .303 TSX bullets...

Teh .375 Ballistic tip was actually a very thick jacketed bullet, good for big stuff liek eland and kudu and moose. ALthough I never used it.:p

Couldn't you just rebarrel one to 303 Br?

Yeah... And I'd stamp 'D.W.E.' Limited Edition on the side. It would have a couple of beer caps tacked to the side of the stock & it would come with a bottle of Danfield's and I'd sell a million of em! But it wouldn't be a 'Canadian Edition', err wait a minute....:D

Well, if not in .308, then how about 7mm-08?

Same thing, but different, so we're both happy! :D

Thing is, if I remember right, Ruger has already built a No.1 on a 7mm-08. Hell, they even built one on .357 magnum platform. I know they built one one on 257 Roberts already, but not enough G.D.! To build the 1st Canadian one, I think it would have to be unique, yet marketable... Hence the .303.

All of you Ruger no 1 lovers

Just a shameless post on this thread, I am looking for a used ruger to convert over to a 17 cal for varmitting this summer so if anyone knows of one that is beaten up let me know.

7x57 international for me. I wonder if they can be made to shoot <0.5 moa?

Yes they can....I have a 6mm Rem. that will:wave:

I once seen a beautiful Ruger#1 with gorgeous wood for sale at a gun shop in .257 Roberts.....I thought to myself is there a more perfect rifle to start a youngster deer hunting with???

But alas I passed up on the deal and have been kicking myself ever since...another vote for the .257 Roberts. Or a .303 would be O.K too.

I own 2 Ruger#1's 6mm Rem. and a 7mm Mag. Both are Excellent hunting rifles.

The 7mm is capable of MOA groups so it is pretty accurate too.

I think a .303 with a .308 bore would rock! Factory .303 ammo is loaded light enough that the bore difference wouldn't matter pressure-wise (at least to the Ruger #1 platform), and reloaders could use any .308 bullets they want! I'd buy one.

Erik.
