How much interest in a Canadian limited edition Ruger No.1?

If you want a Canadian .303 from Ruger....

I just returned from the shot show where I spoke to a Ruger VP. He advised he has heard no talk of a #1 in .303. He further stated that Ruger 'planning dept' expects to introduce a new cal to the #1 lineup each year for a one year run. Numerous calibres have been discussed but he expects that a .303Br would be well down the list!

I can guarantee you that if everyone who spent their time on this thread had sent their enthusiastic responses to Ruger, we would have a firm commitment from that company.

Then click on "Submit online Request" and send in your thoughts.

BTW....I've sent in mine.

I want a single shot hunting rifle in .303British, and a Ruger No.1 RSI will do.

If someone will make it as I like it, I don't care if everybody and his dog gets one, too.

If it isn't what I want, I don't care how "exclusive" it is, it can sure exclude me.

Give Clay a break the shop I help out at just returned from shot on Saturday and they said it was a zoo this year due to the location of the show and it was hard to talk to anyone for any amount of time due to crowds. It is hard to believe there is a ression going on in the USA!!! If it come to fruition I will still take the 2 I requested, Dale in Thunder Bay:D

Had a nice long chat with the Lipseys rep that does the special orders. Not much for news but , overall, its looking good. I really hope we can get things firmed up herre soon before the excitement wanes.

Ruger has "no current plans" to produce the .303

Here is the response I got from Ruger this morning:

We have no current plans to produce the .303 British but will pass your suggestion along to our Sales/Marketing Dept.

If you need further information, please visit our website at www.ruger.com

Maybe a few more suggestions might help????

Out of the country again, but thanks for the heads up Clay! I think patiences will be the word for at least a month or two... I'm still amazed at the speed things have went so far. I have waited years to get a custom rifle completed by a gunsmith that would be considered relatively simple as compared to this oportunity... I do hope it's a limited run though Imho.

i shouldn't speak for anyone else, but i'm guessing that if people are serious about committing to this, they would probably be willing to wait out the process.

i'm as impatient as the next person when it comes to the prospect of getting my hands on a new treasure, but i'm not sure that bugging ruger or lipseys from all angles is going to help. my vote is for leaving this in clay's hands, and keeping the waters clear.

besides, even if it takes a while to seal the deal, i'm sure clay could probably find something else to keep me entertained in the meantime;).

nah, ah... I heard there is no prospect of this rifle being made... I even called the reps and the sales guys and blah blah blah...

You've got a damn good and reputable gundealer working on this for you (clay) A few of you shouldn't undermine him...

it's a process, it takes time..

A caliber thats a long cartridge is good, no bolt eh :D a classic is nice, first come to mind was the 300 h&h , the 303 would also be ok, but there are more good ones..
Sights yes, I think the A model can have a long barrel, not certain, would have to look that up. Anyway , great post, love the unique guns with a touch of class....ic:D

While it won't hurt to call or contact Ruger and 'push' for the 303 Brit, you will likely get the generic answer of 'nothing is planned'. Don't read anything into it as you won't be talking to the people that actually are working on this project. On our side of it, we have the right people talking with Ruger. The key person is the Lipseys rep that is responsible for all their special orders. Trust me, he's not just working with the girls that answer the phones at Ruger ;)
Lipseys is one of Ruger's key disributors and, if anybody can get this through, its them. The reps are very excited about the order and are working at it. So they should be for what I hope is a 303 rifle order.

As long as we keep this thing from being 8lbs bare with a .308 barrel, I have a feeling they'll sell. Go Clay, and we will be happy to accept your best. The rest of you heros, sit down and let the pro do it.

Give me a break. Since when is this called "bugging"???
"Dear Ruger,
If you built a Model ___ in .303 British, and called it The Canadian, I would buy one."

Sit on your arses if you want.

I've always wanted a No.1. If it was "canadianized" I would go out of my way to get one! Caliber? I have no idea. .303 would be cool, so would .270, or .308, or 30-06, or 243, or...........
