How Often Do You Clean Your Black Rifle?

Usually when I go to the range its 120-160 rounds.

When I get home I wipe the lower, pull the buffer and spring, CH, BCG/Bolt, and inside the upper receiver and feed ramps. Relube with fireclean.

Barrel foaming bore cleaner..sit for the required time. Spray out with Break Free Powder Blast. 1-2 patches down the bore and lubed for storage.

Once I hit 1000 or once a year I do a good cleaning.

IT wasn't a thread. It happened right in front of me! PE and our mutual friend shoot together. My friend who is also on here was trying to prove a point that guns can handle all kinds of dirt and still work esp. Glocks. We were the only ones there so he threw his empty gun into a mud puddle and stomped on it. I, being a clean freak, naturally freeeked and went looking for a towel. My friend laughed and said it would be fine. He was wrong. He forgot he had a competition Ghost trigger set up in his G17 Gen4 and the gun completely jammed up. Took repeated rinsing and blowing to get the gun unstuck. I got the last laugh.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like good clean fun to me, I wish I had seen it too.

I clean my XCR every time it needs it... almost. ;)
I shoot corrosive surplus. I flush with water after use, always. Hot water, hang to dry.
I'll run 2,000 rounds before I actually clean it. Could be 2 weeks, could be 2 months.
I lube before use, every time... almost. G96!

Surplus runs very clean in my rifle. Last count was 15,480 rounds. I'm doing something right.

It's my only black rifle.

depends on the gun, shotties I basically dont bother to clean, AR's i do "when they need em" which is every 500-1000 rounds or so or if they get muddy.

the pearl handled 1911 gets a buff and a shine every time I touch it.

During the break-in-process I cleaned after every 1 shot (first 10), then every 3 shots (next 15), and finally even 5 shots (next 15). Since then I havent really cleaned other than basic wipe and re-lube (Fireclean). FWIW I run a piston driven AR (SIG716) which inherently doesn't get dirty as much.

lol

Better clean it every time you think of pulling the trigger while you are at it.
