How often should I clean my AR after shooting?

I clean my C7 after every shoot... and not just because I'm suposed to. I hate getting stopages and even with oil the old guns tend to start to "stick" after a few hundred rounds. A quick wipe down of the bolt carier group (disasebled), the inside the recievers, and a couple of pull throughs with a bore snake... 5-10 minutes depending on how many rounds I shot. I only do more if I was shooting blanks or the gun is full of mud.

CLP is fine, It works alright for cleaning and lube. Personaly, I like ATF, it works much better. On a HMG course you never use CLP. You dump half a quart of automatic transmition fluid in the MG after every belt or two. its caustic enough to clean the carbon.. and its better at suspending the carbon particals in the fluid so you simply wash them out rather then scrape it off.

I would never use CLP on a 25mm cannon. it doesn't have the right viscosity and would cause a jam. It has to be tephlon grease... high heat tephlon grease. The most deprate lube I used was the cheap white spray in tephlon grease... fire a few bursts then spray in more through the bottom of the reciever. it worked but it didn't last long.

So I decided to clean my shorty tonight.

So this is after 3500+ rounds of MFS, with no cleaning, only keeping the action wet. The laquer (or something else) build up is like gum. This was after already cleaning it somewhat.

For the last month I was getting 1 - 2 failure to extracts each range session.

Last Wed. I had 3 where the bolt/casing was stuck, and 2 where the casing didn't get ejected out of the upper which got stuck sideways while feeding the next round.

I going to start running some better ammo through it shortly and do the same thing. I'll keep track of when it starts to have problems

Mine eats that cheap MFS :D Never had a stoppage and I've been through about 5k of it. Strange, I've had more issues with the Winchester than the MFS. That's on 3 different AR's as well.

Oh, also zero issues with IVI ;)
