How should this Mauser Kurz identify?

Which chambering and configuration for the Kurz?

Yep, that’s the old method just done small scale, I suspended it over warm water to get the humidity for rusting instead of a damp box. Rust, boil, card, and repeat. Took seven or eight cycles of it, most of a week doing an hour of it a day or so. It’s remarkably easy, but labour intensive.

I have the NECG window hood, but am going to modify a Pre-64 hood as I don’t like the bulbous size of the NECG. Tried it on, was garish to my eye.

Nice! I passed on 40 pieces of Jamison properly headstamped brass on the EE recently, as I was still making up my mind on it. I’ll have to keep watching. ;)

Respect for the .300 Savage, but I’m heavily committed to .308 and it’s becoming a classic of its own in my eyes. I think the 6.5 Creed helped that, actually. Can’t ever claim the .308 is being forgotten, it’s the most produced hunting cartridge out there, but it’s not cutting edge in popular conception anymore. I like that. ;)

I might know where that Jamison brass went...I believe they are now feeding my Savage Super Sporter with 100gr Speer SP's
I put a period correct Weaver J2.5 w/ 3/4" rings on it and it looks the part of a classic .250 Savage.

I’ll see after working the .250, I don’t think it’ll ever replace the Roberts +P for me, as 117grs at 2950 is a .270 Winchester for all intents and purposes that stirs my heart more. Have a thing for the quarter bore.

But I won’t say never til I’ve spent time with it, I like the case, the first Creed… the most with the least stuff. Certainly has an allure, kind of strikes a balance.

Thanks for the kind words guys, still may cut a new stock for it this winter. But this Oberndorf stock sure points well, too well.

I'd leave it as-is. That stock is a good fit for that period classic style rifle.

Now, all you need are some Hornady 117gr RNs to load up with for the total Fudd pkg. :)

Well she’s settling into her identity, just gained iron sights. Now she looks dressed to my eye, rear is a Talley peep, front is an NECG Masterpiece that was waiting for me when I returned from the last fire shift.

Was a rather exhaustive rust bluing process for such a small part, and she’s stayed a .250 despite having a .257 reamer 3’ away.

That is extremely nice! Well done.

I get the quarter bore thing, was on a binge for a while, ended up with a 25 Copperhead, couple of 250's, a 257 Bob, a 25 Souper, 257 Bob AI, 25-06, 25 wssm, 257 Wby, 25 Gibbs, and a 257 STW. Ah, grand days. - dan
