How should this Mauser Kurz identify?

Which chambering and configuration for the Kurz?

Super nice work here Ardent! Love those old gems, gotta say, im pretty excited to see if you whittle up a stock for it! Couple more months I should be about ready to start on the tools again, stock season is probably my second favourite season.

Do you find the talley peeps have ample adjustment?

Is the aperture fine like a SAKO peep.or more similar to a williams or skinner?

I’m afraid that may not be in my nature. :d Anyone formed .250 Savage from .22-250? Thinking of ordering some Lapua .22-250, long as the necks don’t end up too thin. First things first will have to find out how it shoots as she stands. Just need Alberta to stop burning to get back to it.

It seems a tad long to the eye with the short Oberndorf fore end, granted can’t be seen in the quick pics I took before I left. I’m thinking I’ll only keep the 22” if I go .257 R to make use of the powder, or if it shoots bug holes as is. But I may soften my stance.

I use Hornady .250 dies to make new brass from 22-250 never lost a case yet.

Should clarify; in small bores. Shot lots of them, and lots of game with RNs in .375, and 7x57 too come to think of it. They don’t fly great in the mountains unfortunately, and never noticed a difference in bullet performance so I stick to the spitzers in the small stuff.

This rifle has caused me a need to find a Pre-64 .250-3000 unfortunately, gateway rifle. As for the aperture never had one come loose, many aperture sights use thread in apertures, dab of blue loctite if you’re really worried about it.

I wanted to shoot 175s in my 275Rigby but had a match chamber put in so the leade was far too short to use them. I ended up using 120gr NBTs instead.

Good luck with that. Best to pass on that "need".
