I just tell them the type of shotgun it is and anyone who is interested will either ask for a photo or search for the info on line.

When I sold my Browning
My ad was something like this:

Used one season hunting - Browning BPS 12 gauge comes in original box/papers chokes and lock. Reason for selling it doesn't fit me well.

It was sold in a matter of days

Pictures. Do you know how to post pictures?

You forgot; Where is this firearm? Lots of people want to know in case it needs to be shipped. And most people on this site don't post where they are either in ads, or on their profile page. (I have no idea why the secrecy.)

And it's up to the ad poster, but pictures really help.

Many don't. Pics to e-mail. It separates the serious buyers from the tire kickers.

And at least give a general area where to pick it up.

I won't buy unless I can see it, and I don't trust the PO.

My driving dist. for a f2f in good weather is 500 km.

Yes, I have missed deals in the winter.

I don't think I have ever asked who the previous owner was because if it is a fairly old gun the owner likely doesn't know its history and if they claim to, it could be a bunch of made up stuff that is not accurate or truthful at all. I buy going by condition of the gun according to the price being asked.

This really passes me off. Even better is "local deal only" with no clue as to even the province.

Lowballers will be ignored? or in reply why are you asking more than new off the shelf? diamond coated??

I lesson I learned was never trust anyone named Walt from southern Ontario. But more widely speaking never buy anything who doesn't understand your question and can't answer it clearly with proof.
No matter how friendly they seem over the phone. And pictures can be deceiving if you've put on rose coloured glasses. When he didn't what cast" meant I should have run.
But I trusted him when he reported back on all my questions, right eyed shooter, 2 3/4 chamber etc. I now own a left-handed gun , 2.5 in chamber, with a loose stock.
Needless to say I can get no refund from "Walt" because "I am wrong" regarding cast, "I broke it" regarding the stock, etc. This is the first time I have been ripped off, and it taught me a lesson. Vintage firearms need special considerations and safeguards.

Any negative trader ratings should be a sign that this person is willing to screw you over. One, two or ten. Eyes should be wide open.
