How to keep hunters away?

People who own land/wood lots/hunting territory.

How do you keep hunters off during the season? - Whether you are present or not during the season.

I have woods on my property. I do not hunting it during some seasons. However I have noticed hunters pushing it. Not sure if these hunters are asking neighbours who also own part of the woods or not, but the fact remains that they have been walking over my land during their pushes.

Thoughts? Ideals?
Beyond positing no trespassing signs what else is there?

Do not really want be "that guy" but I doesn't seem right in my opinion.

Having been on the hunters side many a time I understand the need to get permission and what not.
 
I would say a cheap and proactive approach would be posting signs as i am fairly certain you would not want to fence your property off. just my 0.02
 
Your land, your rules. Nothing wrong with wanting people off your property. Post signs and call the authorities if it doesn't work.
 
I posted my property and am there quite often to be sure others are not using my property during hunting season. Thou I am lucky the back end is marsh with a creek threw it and one side has no trespassing and no hunting posted on it. The other boundary is a residential lot and the guy across the road owns 300 acres and he hunts his own. Not much chance anyone will be entering mine.
 
You are not "that guy", you are "that guy who doesn't seem to mind as I have seen nothing to the contrary". The slob hunter thrives on this. Posting in the prescribed manner is first and foremost then document times and license plates and reporting to the authorities. A couple of concealed trailcams at the the most common access points will ID the parties involved ( I will bet it is the same group season after season).

Eventually the word will spread.
 
Already have a few trail cams up. Going to put more up for sure.
I do plan to hunt the land from time to time. So the last thing I want to have someone come up on me in my stand/blind.
I have a side pic of someone walking through ONLY wearing a blaze hat. No orange vest or jacket. You can clearly see my neighbours home in the background. The shot was taken well on my property and within about 100 yards from my staples.
I will have to make friends with the local CO and do the posting of signs for sure. I am pretty new to the area and do not want to make enemies too early I suppose.

Is it a ####-move to patrol the woods from time to time during the hunting season? on ATV and in orange of course? Maybe that is too much....any dangerous.

One farm owner that allows hunting with permission tags to be placed on the dash of
the hunter's vehicle.
No tag displayed, four flat tires.
 
Other than posting it, and being there to check regularly during the hunting season, not much.
Where I have permission to hunt, there are always other fellas showing up to hunt. Ive found them actually using my treestands when Ive shown up. I'm always asking guys to leave.
 
Use a couple signs warning of ''Active Falling in Progress'' or ''Road Closed'' with the appropriate cross bucks out a Renfrew a few years ago.
Works like a hot dam ...well aside from the other locals that have local knowledge.

You need the words, Zed, the Gimp , leather, and ball gag and an interesting way of relaying the message through images.

That should fix it, unless of course they are into that sorta thing! :eek:

Gonna be picked on for ragging Ontarians before long , :) but that's the way we do it in Alberta. we have trespass laws that allow you to control access to your land, both in Civil and Wildlife regulations, Easy enough to enforce. . Is the "four flat tires" the only remedy they have in Ontario for this kind of illegal activity? Seems pretty extreme and illegal. Get caught and the very least it's gonna cost you a set of expensive tires.
