A plastic case locked with a cheap Masterlock is not security, and it's not a responsible way to store firearms. To me, for storage, each pistol in a safe or vault makes the most sense (rather than a padlocked plastic case), and, to me, for transport, each pistol in a pistol rug makes the most sense. You can lock the pistol rug with a padlock, if you want to. You can carry the padlocked pistol rug in your hand, if you want to. And if you want to, you can carry the locked pistol rugs in a range bag, briefcase, backpack, dufflebag, or a huge Pelican case. Whatever I lock it in, I lock it with an Abloy padlock. That's security. For a firearm, it's at least as protective as the cut-foam model, and it's a lot more versatile.
To each his own, but I just don't understand the appeal of these dedicated-space cut-foam cases.
