How was the 2017 moose season?

Had 4 bulls go through the cooler this year as well as 3 cow elk and numerous deer. Drove up to an 80 acre field one morning after a snow storm and counted 14 cows and calves out feeding. As I get older I know what my late dad and uncle meant when they said "it's not as much about gettin' as it is about gettin' out"

Lots of farmland moose here in Saskatchewan but you won't always catch them on farm land. I watched my bull with a smaller bull in a swamp for over half an hour, I wasn't going to shoot him in there, there was a 30ft drop between firm land and that swamp. I watched and waited until the large bull made it's way out, as soon as it came on hard packed soil and gave me a shot I gave him lead! Considering I had to gut/quarter/pack that thing out by myself I was glad I was patient enough. I also ask myself WTF was I thinking, that bull could've went the other way, deeper in the swamp.

You shot him on farmland and couldn't find a farmer with a FEL?

Hunted WMU 18A North of Nakina for the fourth year in a row. Partner had a cow tag. I heard a cow calling opening morning within a couple of hundred yards. Tried to grunt a bit and sneak up on her but she sneaked away on me. Low concentration of moose in that area, but we were guaranteed a cow tag with five pool 1 hunters in the party. Partner and I were the only ones ended up going. There are areas to hunt with much better moose populations, but the guaranteed tag number is higher in them. The MNR is trying to reduce the moose numbers in some areas in an effort to restore woodland caribou. I think they are out of touch with reality. Neighbor saw about 30 moose in Sioux lookout WMU, but he couldn't draw a tag. His daughter has FN status and got a nice bull.

Using a front end loader to recover your Moose on a farm??

Try packing out your Moose way back in the mountain bush with fresh Bear tracks all around.

It went great as every moose season. Tagged out my bull once again in the "honey hole". This guy had few old injuries, one ear as seen was ripped in two, same side he was also missing that eye and scars all over head and body, must of been a fighter.

The 2017 moose season was absolutely outstanding as I never shot one.........and if I never shoot another one it will be a happy life for me.........

My moose season was the same as yours. Except I spent a bunch of time (and a fair amount of money, at least for my cheap ass) trying. Didn't even see a single moose (although my buddies did see a single cow in two weeks) so we'll likely be picking a different region for our LEH next year...

2017 was another successful season. It was open in our zone this year and I was lucky enough to connect on a 36 inch bull at about 150 yards. Took 3 shots to drop him. He never stood still. The other group at camp got a cow that made my bull look like a twerp. She was a 1 shot didn't take a single step. We are lucky to be in one of the zones with some of the highest moose populations. In the past 6 seasons we we got 11 moose out of a possible 12.
