How was the 2017 moose season?

Just wondering how everyone's moose season was this year.

I was lucky enough to make it down to Prince George with my two brothers for about ten days. We harvested a nice medium sized bull, he was 550lbs at the butcher. He didn't have much of a palm, but I think this is the best tasting bull we've had yet. We brought it to hunnifords again and as most of you know they do a pretty good job.

We shot him first thing in the morning on our first day. We were pretty tired from travelling and weren't really planning on getting anything that day, so no camera, no cell phone and no pics of the kill. My brother saw him down on the river where he spooked the bull and then he circled around to his quad and the bull came out on the road ahead of him. Good thing, because all of our gear for pulling was back at camp.

We stayed and did some calling and screwed around for the rest of the week. Our group saw a few more bulls and a cow, including a couple of spike-forks which were open. It seems like we were a little bit early, the bulls were interested in the cow call, but wouldn't come out of the bush.

We had a good time but thats about it, no tag again this season. We seen three bulls over a few days but nothing we could pull the trigger on.
 
Myself and a friend set out for a 6 day raft/float hunt. I got a young bull on day 4, we were out to the truck the next day. No Elk for my buddy, but we split the meat from my bull. Very fun trip, a lot more relaxing than our usual sheep hunts.

Great picture cam. Our group did well. Out of the 4 of us we got a 1.5 two 3.5 year old bulls and a calf. Farmland hunting in sask. Hardly fair to call it hunting. More like grocery shopping.
 
That sure doesn't happen often around where we hunt. your lucky to see 2 or 3 moose in a week let alone harvest them. Concrats!
 
I drew an antlered tag for Camp Wainwright, and a friend and new hunter purchased a partner license. We didn't see any huge bulls, but my friend was able to harvest a younger bull, which provided some very nice eating

My wife and I did very good, we both drew tags in Sk. I got a 49in bull and she got a 37in bull! Great season.

We saw lots of animals, moose, whitetails and mule deer.

Lung shot at 250 yards,7 mm browning SS.

My brother got a big cow,and my buddy shot a small bull.

We seen about 30 or so moose and 3 caribou.

I got my tag at Camp this year as well. We saw 9 moose in 2 days, 6 were in a group with this one.

Here's the euro mount from the Bull Moose I dropped this past season. Measures 50-3/4".

Lots of huge Bull Moose in that area. This one is representative of the smaller Bulls. Next season I'll call in and drop a way bigger one than that. :p

Great hunt-no moose....we got up to our hunting camp and only then realized my hunting partner had LEH alright,but for the ADJOINING area... Saw a nice bull,too
 
I got nice bull this year (48"). I normally get a bull every year but it seems lately it takes more and more effort to connect.

There is less logging going on so the bush is getting thicker and the wolf population seems to be growing as well...in my area(north coast mountains) this adds up to harder hunting.

On a plus note though, I was hunting the BC eastern Rocky Mountain slopes for deer/elk and seen more bull moose in a 2 week period than I normally see in 2 years. It was archery only for moose during this 2 weeks so will definitely be taking my bow on next years deer/elk hunt.

I find timing is the key factor. If you can hit the rut you're going to do well. My wife had a late draw for all of November and I spent a bunch of days out on foot and didn't see a thing. Lots of fresh tracks, just not at the same time as me.

Looks like some of us had some good success though.
