Well it works pretty damn good.;) Was out yesterday and had a great half day of cruising backroad Southern Sask in pursuit of my favorite critter,,the coyote. My first stand I called one in and shot him at 250 yards...he was somewhat hung up but he got the 70 gr. pill and died in some buckbrush.
Coyote number 2 was a single, he ran in fixated on the FoxPro decoy, he got to 50 yards and I pulled the trigger only to realize I didn't load a round. He was still intrigued by the decoy and I was able to get a round chambered and shoot. Coyote #2 down. Both coyotes were called in most of the way with a lightning Jack and finished with Vole squeeks.

My third coyote was a double that came in, they were barking off in the distance so I used a female challenge and they both cautiously came in, they hung up around 300 yards and I didn't have a great shot so I used the pup distress and the female turned on the afterburners and charged in. I shot her at 75 yards and the other dog took off out of sight.

Last stand was the best. After about 3 mins of calling using the lightning jack I brought in a female, she circled the little pond in the pic focused on the decoy. Dropped her in her tracks at 80 yards. I continued with the pup distress and after a few mins a male showed up...he was real weary. He circled the same path and saw the other dead dog and started to run off. I did a loud "woof" and stopped him at 150 yards and dropped him.
Overall was a heck of a day...beautiful country..great weather and lots of dogs.

My equipment

FoxPro Fury II w/ FoxJack decoy
Weatherby Vanguard .243 Vortex Diamondback HP 3-12x44
Zeiss Conquest binos 12x45

Some good calling country!!

Thanks for posting, l'm looking forward to getting out and trying to cull a few later this year, great pics and beautiful country!

Double the first set ever with my Spitfire last winter. I'm sold. Only wish I'd gotten a model with Foxbang, but those ones weren't blowout cheap at Cabela's.... I've never managed a double here in a half dozen years of mouth calls, these things make it look easy.

Great job on the yotes, Saw quite a few road killed last week while waterfowl hunting and a few moving through pasture fields. Definitely on the move again.

SK regs allow for the use of e-callers for Snow Geese now as well. I loaded mine with a half dozen Snow Goose sounds and used it last week while targeting the white devils. Had some luck with the e-caller set to small flock and a my buddy's homemade vortex machine going on the inside forward edge of the kill hole with a spread of 13 dozen full bodies. First time I ever had shooting at Snows at 10 yards!! But typical Snow Goose hunting too, it's a numbers game. I need another 800 decoys to really make it work......;)

Good job on the yotes there Scott.

Im itching to get out here myself.

I just got my 243 up and running not to long ago. This will be my first time shooting coyotes with it. Going to try out the nosler bt 70 grainers and im hoping that it wont be to ruff on the fur as I would like to make a few bucks to pay for abit of fuel and what not.

I have some of those loaded up but they didnt group as well as the Bergers. Only problem is the Bergers are about the worst fur bullet I have ever used. Maybe a full on frontal shot would work...get those all the time using handcalls. Let me know how they work for you. I also have some 75 gr. Sierra HP's I will give a try.

Cheers!!

Yeah Ill let you know in a month or so on how well they work out.

They shoot real good in my rifle, Im kind of glad since I bought a 250 pack right from the get go

nice hunt , i tried 2 year to hunt coyotes in quebec , with an electronic call , i have the primos alpha dog , not bad but had to buy a new one it would be a foxpro , the only 2 coyotes i ever see while hunting i miss them because of a bad scope , they were at around 400 yard ,

here in alberta i want to try that this winter should be more easier still have to find a nice spot , i was still with the 243 too , was loading with the berger bt 90gr or v-max 87gr loaded with a hot load

You should find more success without a doubt. Western coyotes are much easier to hunt then eastern dogs. Anyone can call in coyotes in Sask.....its so easy.

that what all people seem to says , i wasnt hunting them with a light rifle , i was using a ruger mark 2 target with a leupold vx3 50mm , around a nice 10 pound easy if not more , i might be tempted by a good semi here for them
