How would you attach a bipod to this ?

I would make a U shaped piece that would fit over the magazine tube and support the front end of the bipod. No modifications to the rifle.

A zero obtained shooting with a bipod may not be the same as hand held.
For best results with a hunting rifle, rest the wrist against the bags.

Stack up some wood to raise the bags
I get it that a higher sitting position makes it easier to handle recoil at the range
Our range ha an asortment of sandbags and lumber

THIS ^^^^^^^^^ my milk crate is half full of sanded 2x6...1 x 6...3/4 x 6...all about 8 inches long. Set my bag on top..Use them quite frequently depending on the gun choice(s) of the range day

I have a short tripod with a bag on top ( vanguard) is the brand IIRC. Anyway it adjusts high enough to run a lever and is very stable, i have used it with bolty's out to 1k, but i have done away with benches altogether now and use a set of sitting sized quad pods instead.

agreed

does anyone re-zero a hunting rifle using actual field conditions and props?
IME they all test at the bench and call it goodenuff

then don't be so difficult
its not rocket surgery

It's how am I'm, I like my equipment to be setup correctly and reliably and also good looking, even if it's just for 30 minutes of sighting in and ammo testing.

People that jimmy rig things and do things ½ assed have no pride in ownership and are generally sloppy and lazy.

Problem is it does not tighten evenly on both sides of the stud due to its location.

It goes on cockeyed and stays loose.

If it’s a swivel model then you’re good to go or just get a swivel model. I don’t buy a harris that isn’t a swivel (cant) and I run all my targets boards and gong top bars with a level when I set up so I can level crosshairs to something. Swivel bipod allows that no matter where I set up my ‘range’. I run single a lot weaver rails on stocks in front of my swivel that my bipods have to ride over but they still get snug and work fine.

Oh it stays loose...yeah that’s a problem. Shims like washers would be my solution as that gun will never wear a bipod outside of the range. Just need a snug swivel bipod set up to get through range duty. Or just do the bag. I turn my Caldwell tack driver sideways for more height and not use the channel lots. Watch the front sling studs though they like to tear it up on recoil lol, I’ve spun them out just to save the bag a bit. I like the benchrest swivel bipod and some days I like the tackdriver, it’s a mood thing.

This is a Jimmy rig problem imo, I’d be stackin washers under the front side of them bipod pads and get er snug. Or turn a Caldwell tackdriver sideways and throw a squared of 2x10 under it?

then look at Spartan Precision Equipment and Salmon River Solutions
top shelf

Step1: Buy a Ranger Point precision front aluminum stock.
Step2: Install stock on rifle. They have nice fat round bottom with detachable swivel studs on them.
Step3: Install bipod just like you would on a bolt action rifle.
Step4: Throw rifle in trash because you don't like those front stocks as there are NO reason ever to use those modern accessories, they are just too ugly........
