Howa mini action mag release

Very nice. Fit and finish looks good. I’d imagine there’s a lot less flex in the foreend than on the Hogue synthetic stocks. Wood looks like beech or possibly maple?
With the Jefferson bottom metal that makes a very nice rifle.

If Howa made one with a 20” barrel I’d be all over that, but the 22” is still tempting.

FWIW, I believe Weatherby vanguard bases fit the Howa mini action.

I *think* they advertise it as walnut but in good lighting its lighter colour even still. Guessing its a lower grade of Turkish walnut, personally.

And yep! You're right. For the Talleys, it would indeed be Vanguard bases.

Howa mini action stocks - I am very impressed with the stock that came on my Mini 7.62x39.

The Howa synthetic stocks are described as an 'HTI' stock in the literature, which really doesn't tell you anything. It is extremely stiff, with no flex with a bipod or anything else, the barrel is certainly free floated. The profile is very similar to the Howa Hogue ones, but without the overmolded rubber. They have aluminum pillars and feel great (at least for me).

Especially for lighter cartridges, it's more than stiff enough.
