Howdy from Utah Canadian EBR lovers !

Sorry . Derailing over .

Here's a G19 for you to make up for it, with a ridiculous magazine.

Welcome vcrmack

as the others have said, think seriously about returning....I'm trying to figure a way out of this country, perhaps to NH....still undecided, but I know that one day I want to leave Canada.

PS..hows the health care down there? Do you have coverage through your employer? This is the biggest question I have about moving to the states. Also, are you gonna get your US citizenship?

Wow I cant believe you guys want to leave so bad... We have it pretty dammed good as Canadians.... I love it here in Alberta and my "Mexico" is BC when I want hot sun and beaches.......Onagoth your just upset cuz it takes days for an ATT , just do yourself a favor and move to AB or BC your paradise awaites....

:D

Also, are you gonna get your US citizenship?

Unless you qualify by birth, US citizen parentage, are trained in certain short supply professions, have political "pull", own a US based business or have lots of entrepreneurial money to invest .............forget about getting a US Green Card!

Canadian citizens can live in the US up to 6 months as non immigrant aliens (NIA) before having to return to Canada & then they can go back down & live in the US another 6 months.

Many Canadian retirees (Snowbirds) do exactly that and unless they make themselves conspicuous (criminal offenses, working illegally, smuggling) the US authorities seem amenable to the practice though technically the 364 day/year residents are circumventing US immigration law & can be expelled if some hot shot CBP officer decides to make an issue of it (I've never heard of it happening without cause).

Why would they complain about rich, well behaved Canadian retirees spending money in their country?

If you want to purchase a gun in the US as a resident NIA you need to satisfy the residency requirements (fed & state) & get an I-94 form at the border so you can pass the NICS check.

Stay away from Washington State because they treat resident NIAs like crap with regards to firearms rights but most of the other states are OK.

The only things a Canadian NIA can't do in the US is vote & work which doesn't matter if you're retired.

I just read my first post and it does sound like I really want to come back . I should make it clear that I am here permanently , and I'm sure the adult beverages I had last night added to my sentimentality seeing all the Canadian flags etc.

I am a business owner and have expanded to the US , and I will be living here for a long time . I should also point out that I love living here in case it seemed like I don't , but I do miss Canada often.

I'm here working legally , and pay for my own health care since it is my business . $784.00 / month for myself , my wife and daughter. This is for the best available medical insurance I could get.

I cannot vote and will remain a Canadian citizen . I will be able to nationalize one day but will not have to give up my Canadian citizenship from what I understand. We'll also be having our second child in January , born here in Utah .

Now , back to guns.

Well....its a little more than that....political/legal system, gun laws/restrictions, taxes, nanny state philosophy, misrepresentation/corruption in government, the list goes on

And by the way , Obama is officially the gun and ammo salesman of the year . For the last while ammo shelves have literally been EMPTY and the price of all of the evil firearms went through the roof . You wouldn't believe the gunshop stories from around here since he has been in office with all of the fear of another AWB down here.

It appears that the panic time is over , everything is back on the shelves except for ammo . It is still pretty difficult to find - .380 forget it , .45 good luck , 9mm if you have good timing and 7.62 not a chance.

Wolf 7.62 was $4.99 / box pre Obama and has been $10.99 for a while , if you can even find a single box.

What!?! You think its any better in the states? Its waaaay worse.... Gun laws are better ?!?! so what! that should be pretty damm low on the totem pole compared to free health care, prescriptions, wait times etc. etc. Oh, and its our 1 scumbag politician to their 5 ratio.... how about just the worlds opinion on our nation compared to thiers..... oh, ya how about their economy, compared to ours not nearly as bad...... I dont wanna get into a pissing match about which countries better, thats not my aim... However I just feel like you take certain things for granted, also no offense but based on your posts, not very loyal or patriotic...

PS everything in your last post could be said about the USA aswell......

What's the score with H.R. 45? (Obama's answer to Bill C-68)

Much talk about that around the Utah shooting clubs & gun shops these days?

I think H.R. 45 is a DEAD ISSUE now in the US...........an Obamy/Brady Bunch wet dream that died in a mini revolt of the pro-gun Democrats.

manufacturer 7.62 is roughly $14-25 a box here, surplus is a lot cheaper. I'm suprised it's harder finding ammo then guns. Whats the AR15 situation like down there? Still hard to come by and flying off the shelves? I remember a little while back hearing a lot of local dealers here talking about having trouble getting anything AR.

Utah, Utah County I hope - home of the 'open carry'. I spent some time in Happy Valley, enjoy yourself, Canada will still be here.

I completely agree with 50cal as a current canadian soldier just back from trashghanistan I can tell you this:
1. Anyone of us would gladly give our lives for Canada
2. If it wasnt for our pussy politicians we would have WMD's
3. If you seen how other countries carry on tactically overseas youd be pretty proud of our forces

Health care would be my only concern with living in the states....I agree with you on that point.

The US economy may be worse off than ours, but this isn't high on my personal totem pole as a slumping economy doesn't really affect me. Be careful not to draw to general of an opinion about the 'USA'... many states are wildly different than many others.....some are very great places to live and don't suffer from the problems you describe to the same extent as other states.

I would also agree with your last statement about patriotism....I love Canada...but its not the country I envision living in.....I do my part to change what I can, but this country does not operate in a fashion which makes me 'proud to be Canadian'

Canada's healthcare is already crap, so even if the US is worse, which is arguable, its not by much.

As the list from the World Health Organization shows, Canada ranks well behind most modern developed countries in healthcare, ranking 30th. http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html

But yay for all the fat people, smokers, and lazy people who just sit around getting a free ride from tax payers for their completely preventable medical problems, while everyone suffers on jokingly long wait lists which cannot be circumvented thanks to the stupidity of Canada's largely socialist/liberal population.

I'm sorry you feel that way... I am proud to be Canadian, and thankful that I am nothing but Canadian... I try to never take for granted how lucky I am to be living in this wonderful, prosperous, free nation....

Good luck Onagoth with all your future endevors.... :)

VCRMack I am the exact opposite...Utahn living in Alberta. I bounce between the two but have been in Edmonton for about 13 years. I terribly miss Utah and love it each year when I go back. There is no place like home!

So I am, but being a proud Canadian doesn't mean I have to welcome many of the socialist policies that we have ignorantly adopted.
