Saw four deer on that 3hr walk.
As I aproached the artisan spring at the back of the property I went over a little rise. The doe spotted me right away, swapped ends and exited warp 9. The six point buck with her, he was not quite with it, maybe had something else on his mind. Didn't see me, reacted to her departure by running straight at me. Got to about thirty feet, and stopped to look at me. I was making like a tree, but the insulated blue jeans don't quite fit in. He jumped to the side, and stopped broadside to look at me again, before lowering his tail and walking away.
The other two I saw, one was just a tail bounding off, the other, I saw get up off her bed under a big pine tree. She stood broadside on, and watched me for about fifteen seconds, my wife caught up to me, and off the deer ran.
Damn, I gotta try deer hunting on snow shoes. so quiet! Just need an good earlier snow.
