OK I picked up a used but good condition HS stock for my left hand 700 SPS Varmint. It is supposed to be a bolt on affair.... but not with my luck.
While initially setting the action into the stock it seems fine, but once I tried to slip the trigger guard on, I noticed something very strange to me.
The action is sitting a bit off kilter in the stock, preventing the trigger guard from being installed. I can see it plainly that the action needs to be twisted a few degrees to center the trigger in the opening. I assume the recoil lug that is between the barrel and action needs to move, but I don't dare move it until I know how it is attached and what it will affect if I move it. Any advice?
HS stock
I am 100% sure the action isn't sitting straight, but I can't turn it because of the recoil lug. It fits perfect in the old tupperware stock, so I am thinking the tupperware stock has a twist in it from the molding process, and the action was fitted to it that way.
