The bullets I would use, based on this test would be the Hornadys from 129grs to 160grs, depending upon size of critter. In a hypothetical situation, where this was my only gun... *shudders*... then I'd use the 129gr on deer and go to the "big" 160gr for elk/moose/bears.
 
that is some good work. looks like my selection of 140 gr NP's and 160 grain hornady's was a good one.

i am guessing here, but what is true for the 6.5's is probably true for other calibers within the same bullet line.

it would be interesting to see how the 130 TSX stacks up compared to some of the famous penetrators like the 7mm/175, .303/215, etc. although it beat the 156 and 160 grainers in the test, so maybe that has already been answered.

bcsteve, when are you going to do the same for the .22's?

I had all the loads used and approximate velocity for all of them but I can't find that stupid piece of paper. I can't remember the numbers but they were loaded to duplicate impact velocity of modern loads at 100yds for the 6.5x55 and .260Rem and about 200yds with the .264 Win Mag and 6.5-284. Take a look at the max velocity for the bullet weight that you're intested in and take off about 100-150fps, that should be the impact velocity of my test.

I also have a spreadsheet with all the averages (same numbers posted with the pictures) and a spreadsheet with the numbers for every single bullets. If anybody can tell me how I can post those spreasheet let me know and I'll post them.

This has been my experience comparing the TNT and VMAX across their lines, from the 17HMR up to their .308 cal offerings. In all cases, the VMAX made a bigger 'splat'
 
Clearly some great bullets out there these days..

It's very interesting to see the changes from the regular old X bullet to the new TSX. The TSX performance looks far more consistent.

Also interesitng to note is what most of us already know- Match bullets are for paper!:D

First let me first thank you for the test and the work you put in. I own two 6.5s and I'm happy to have all this data. Wonderful job!!

Can you transform that spreadsheet into a large .jpg and post it as a picture?
