Huns and Bobwhite quail in my opinion are the best table fair to be had bar none.
Do foxes catch lead around your place?Had a cluster of nine in our yard last winter. Just south of edmonton. Fantastic to watch. Maybe the most pleasant shaped bird out there.
Sadly, i believe that the pair of resident foxes did what foxes do.
LOL. I have a flock that have been hanging around the farm for 10 years now. The babies are funny to see with their long legs not grown into yet. I won't harvest them here, but when I'm out hunting they are a great food.
They are challenging little targets to shoot and very tasty.

They are cute little birds. We have them in our yard almost daily. The pics are taken from my living room window. Nearest I can tell we are visited by three coveys. A covey of 8, another of 11 and a covey of 12. Considering as far north as we are isn't really known yo be great for them the past few dry years has really brought about a population explosion of them. I see lots of flocks while scouting.

Yes never saw any there in my day. I got my license just in time to see the wild pheasant population disappear too. Thanks for the pics spank brings back memories of Huns in the West Lincoln days you may have been to young to hunt them when you were growing up in Niagara.
