Sounds like a congregational meeting at church. I sure hope those sinners repent.
Yes, of course, practicing the way you play is important. I am attracted to the “holier that thou” feelings as much as the next guy, but virtue signalling is getting a bit tiresome these days. To OP enjoys it in other threads too.
Imagine if they did make hunters test before getting a tag? There would be a lot more room out there come rifle season.
And what would the benefit be to that?
Alot of the older hunters are the one that don't shoot much, they normally don't have a lot of gear. They lived a simpler life.
What gets me is those who rely on a lead sled. You are going to have a huge change in POI if shooting off hand or rested off a tree. Also seem people sight in guns for other people. I think alot of it has to do with as they get older they cannot handle the recoil as much, so they dont goto the range much, but they still like doing what they made part of their lifestyle.
Like my Wife late grandfather. That ugly 99 that you oh so love. The box of ammo he had with it was made in 2005 and had 12 rds left in it. As far as I knew, that and a CIL 402 was the only guns he had.
The room in the woods. It would be empty and hunting pressure would be halved. Plus all the deer that don’t get wounded and die slow deaths. I’m not saying I want it to happen I’m just daydreaming possibilities on a lazy Sunday.
Y'know, for all them deer supposedly dying slow deaths, I figure I'd have run across a carcass or two over the years, but, other than the roadside carnage in some places during the rut, I simply have not.
Careful what you wish for. Many of the Euro countries require a shooting skills test on both fixed and moving targets in order to qualify to hunt. That, and the extreme expenses associated with Club Memberships, game fees, licensing costs, etc. all serve pretty well, at keeping the Peasantry (that's us!) from having access to hunting at all!
It's a big Ol' Country. If you find it to crowded where you are, hunt elsewhere! It only takes putting in a few minutes of legging it, to get one or two hills over from the road, and you will likely find that you have all the peace and quiet, as you may feel the need for. That based on my experiences hunting Saskatchewan, Alberta, and BC.

You should contact Umchorn2 and take him up on his offer to take a card carrying liberal hunting. You two would get along great unless one other person in the same woods is too much pressure for you? Sadly guys like you and him think more restrictions improves hunting for those willing to jump through more hoops. Sadly you cannot see the lack of other hunters will bring about the death of the sport much quicker but you carry on with your dream of a perfect season with fewer hunters and hunters who can pass annual shooting requirements.
Reading comprehension lacking? I’ve said twice in this thread that I don’t want more restrictions on hunters. I just want some of the worst offenders to give their heads a shake. Perhaps people could encourage their spray and pray friends to practice a bit.
Perhaps you can fund them? I'll gladly accept a flat of ammo to practice with. Let me know where to email my shipping address to you.
My dream would be to ban motorized vehicles from Crown Land. That would separate the men from the boys.
