I have always gone with "over", with my boots and skates, looks better, I'd say! But, after reading the above possible tripp'en hazerd, I may reconsider and change to "under"! Might save this old brick chit house from tumbling down one day!

Always over, with an over hand knot in the middle of the lace. The overhand knot avoids having one side of the lace 8 inches, and the other on two inches. The over method allows the medic to slip in a knife easier to cut off your boot.
