Hunting Books that I'd Highly Recommend - Please add to the list

"The last of the Few"- Tony Sanchez-Arino
"Warrior: The legend of Colonel Richard Meinertzhagen"- Capstick
"Wanderings of an Elephant Hunter"- Bell
"A far from Ordinary Life"-Fred Duckworth
"Aagards African Adventures"-Finn Aagard
Books by John Hunter.

Another vote for "Alaska's Wolf Man"-Jim Rearden, great book......also "Shadows on the Koyukuk" by Rearden/Huntington, not only about hunting, but a good book nonetheless.

Outposts and Bushplanes by our very own H4831. Great book!

As the North Wind Blows and North to Cree Lake by Art Karras. Great adventure books, true too. I have read each of these books probably six times over the years. To me, it's like visiting old friends.:)

" Meet Mr Grizzly" Montague Stevens.
"Blackwater River" William Hillen
"Longwalkers" Jerry Lewis
"Call of the hounds" Dell Cameron
"Ben Lilly Legend" Frank Dobie

Anything by Andy Russell or Jack O'Connor.

I've got about 10 or 12 different Jack O'Connor books.
Working on the Andy Russell collection, only have 6 or so.

Bob Hagel gets a thumbs up as well.

Not really a hunting book, but The Black Grizzly of Whiskey Creek is pretty darn good reading.

Any of the grizzly-bear books by Gary Shelton blow away the Larry Kanuit 'fluff', in my opinion.

I tired of the Kanuit stuff after just a few chapters; the Shelton books, I read cover-to-cover.

Dangerous River by R. Patterson. Its a great tale about hunting and trapping the Nahanni area of the NWT. Sheep ,moose caribou and bear as well as making a stew out of wolverine when pickings were slim.Great book on wilderness trapping, hunting and canoeing. Best outdoor book I have read and I have read a few. "Let me get him and I will be willing to grow cabbages for the rest of my life" His thoughts as he sees a trophy Dall sheep.

X2, excellent read, and available at the local library. But it might have a waiting list. It's much sought after.

He now has a book of cowboy adventures and a second Hunting book out too.
Self published books by a BC outdoorsman first class.
